Hamilton Community,
We are looking forward to having students return to in-person instruction starting on January 19th. Please help us make the campus safe and efficient by reviewing the items below:

ACADEMIC DECATHLON
Hamilton Academic Decathlon hosted our second major event of the year. Given the pandemic, we had to re-vision the entire competition to move it completely online. Approximately 100 competitors and 60 adult volunteers came together through the magic of video from across the United States to participate. While we missed the energy generated by in-person competition, we are proud to have provided students with the opportunity to compete despite COVID concerns. Many, many AcDec programs across the country have been destroyed by the pandemic, but your Hamilton team continues not only to thrive, but also to provide innovative solutions to the challenges all our East Valley schools are facing. Thanks to those of you who have continued to support our kids by volunteering at our online events.
This year's topic include THE COLD WAR, the SPACE RACE, and ASTRONOMY. The novel is Kurt Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle.

WE THE PEOPLE
Our Hamilton We the People Team competed (virtually) at the Arizona State We the People Competition. The judges ranged from State Supreme Court Judges to Criminal Defense Lawyers and Prosecuting Attorneys. Our team took 2nd Place and the Wildcard Invitation to the 2021 National We the People Competition in Washington, D.C. Due to COVID concerns, the Nationals Competition will be held virtually this year. Students will have an entire new set of questions for competition and will have to prepare 6 written statements for each group, totaling 18 papers. Due to this immense amount of work for just a group of nine, I gave them the option to not accept the invitation and allow the third-place team to compete instead. All nine want to continue and compete in Nationals. They want to represent our school in nationals and make our school proud.
CONGRATULATIONS TO:

ATHLETICS
Husky Nation
Your winter sports have been training/practicing very diligently and are excited for the season. Recently, the AIA Executive Board voted to resume winter sports starting January 19th. With that, student-athletes will be required to wear mask/gaiters at all times, including competition. They also voted to allow two (2) parents from the HOME TEAM only to attend home contests. Please be on the lookout from your teams coaches for that list.
Thank you again for all your support during these times and GO HUSKIES!
VOLLEYBALL
Congratulations! Senior Diana Ethridge a volleyball setter has committed to continue her volleyball career at West Point.
