The Eagle's Nest
Volume #61
Well it's Fall. The leaves put on their bright colors, the mornings start to get a little cooler and crisper, and when you ask your child to put on their jacket, they can't find it because it's here at school in the lost and found or in their locker with the other four jackets that you have given them recently!!! Please check out our lost and found, which is overflowing!!!
As we head into November, we will have our fall conferences. If you would like a virtual conference, contact your child’s teacher(s) directly. It is important that you meet with your child's teacher to discuss grade level progress, as well as what you can do to support your child at home.
Please read below about how we will be celebrating Halloween at Walsh on Tuesday, October 31.

Walsh Halloween ~ Tuesday, October 31, 2023
Walsh students will be allowed to wear costumes to school on Tuesday October 31st. Please have your child come to school in their costume and with any makeup applied.
Your child’s safety is our first concern. We ask that you guide their selection of costumes and accessories in a manner that will allow them to comfortably work and learn throughout the day. If your child decides not to wear a costume, they can wear a school appropriate Halloween themed shirt (one that does not encourage violence).
Any items/costumes that encourage violence are inappropriate for children at school. Therefore, students will not be allowed to bring toy guns, swords, pitchforks, or other toy weapons.
Finally, please do not allow your child to bring candy on Halloween, or the day after.
Thank you for your cooperation. We are looking forward to an enjoyable day!

Soundtracks introduces elementary school students to the instruments, songs, and dances of traditional music from around the world, taking them on a cultural journey through music, maps, videos and active learning. Soundtracks programs introduce K-5th grade students to the fundamental elements of music shared by cultures around the world. Through the exploration of traditional instruments, songs, dances, and new art music students with little or no musical education can learn about rhythm, melody, harmony, listening, and expression. Through live performances, videos, maps and visual art creating powerful contexts the music accompanies the students on a creative journey around the world.
“Soundtracks empowers students with little or no music education to explore global cultures through music, art, and geography. The students hear live performances and meet FP musicians from Africa, India, China, and Latin countries. Through the use of videos, students discover many other important “World Music” stars and explore Art, Architecture, and Geography of each region.” - Jeff Handley, Lead Teaching Artist and Creator of Soundtracks.
This past week, we were introduced to Soundtracks by its creator, Jeff Handley. We will be having assemblies over the upcoming weeks to enjoy global music.
