Hunt Husky Band
Advanced Band Newsletter 9
Hello Husky Band Families
Thank you so much to all of the parents who worked tirelessly to make the dance a success! Our dance coordinators Nancy Lozano and Jennifer Cross were miracle workers, and there were board members at the school all week long getting decorations prepared, selling tickets, organizing the concessions, and organizing the raffle baskets. We are so thankful for your dedication to our students and our program, and for helping us raise funds to elevate opportunities for our students.
For our band concert on October 24, your student will be required to wear their green band uniform shirt with jeans. We know that a lot of students do not have jeans, so we wanted to give you a couple of weeks to gather them.
The uniform shirts were passed out in class to those that had paid for them. If your student did not yet receive their shirt, it means that we don't have your payment.
If making a payment is a problem, please reach out to Mrs. Vaerewyck.
Please email our treasurer, huntbbbtreasurer@gmail.com if you have questions about your payment options.
Football Game Follow Up
We are so happy that we actually got to perform at the 8th grade football game last week!
The Huskies played an exciting game and we saw many of our awesome band guys in action on the field.
Many parents went up to Mrs. Williams and asked her if the band could perform at every game because they were so energetic when they were cheering and the music added to the effect.
Behavior during rehearsal was not where it was last week, and we were so glad that they turned it around and put on a good show at the game.
Regarding large instruments: We are playing at the Frisco High School football game on October 20. If your student plays percussion or tuba, you are responsible for helping to transport their instrument. If you can't transport it because of car size, etc., then you need to communicate the need for help BEFORE the event. We have WONDERFUL volunteers who can help, but we need to know that we need the help before our personal vehicles fill up. There was equipment and a drum left at the stadium after Monday, and some band parents had to retreive it on Tuesday morning.
Student of the Week
Each week, each of our 3 teachers (Mrs. Vaerewyck, Mrs. Perley, and Mr. Dillard) will choose one student to highlight! The students chosen have exemplified all of the things we value in our band members. They work hard, have a great attitude, help others, and do their best every day. Students will be able to choose a prize that week and will be entered in a drawing to win a lunch that we will provide for them via Door Dash! **Mr. Dillard will start picking students bi-weekly.*
This week's winners are:
Mrs. Vaerewyck-Kaavya J., 6th Clarinet
Mrs. Perley-Maddox P., 8th Tenor Sax
