Accommodation/Modification Reminders
Just a friendly reminder: If a student has unique accommodations or modifications/equipment that is specific to his/her individual needs, please ensure that the student is given access to the modifications/equipment regularly. If you feel another student in your classroom could benefit from similar equipment, please consult with Megan Carroll and/or Eileen Upton.
Blood Drive
As you can imagine, blood supplies across the country are being depleted quickly, and additional blood is needed. Our next Blood Drive is scheduled for Tues., Nov. 28th, from 3:30-7:00, in the elementary gym. At this time, all Big Hollow staff can schedule an appointment at www.lifesource.org.
Please consider helping us reach our target to collect 30 pints of blood!
In addition to receiving a jeans coupon and free custard, all staff participants' names will be entered into a raffle to win a Warrior Cafe Lunch Certificate valued at $12 or three Big Hollow lunches (Thanks Mrs. Longo!).
Thank you for helping us help others!

Hispanic Heritage Month
At the end of the meeting (when some of you left) it was mentioned that some teachers may want all their kids to participate in a performance. Due to logistics that would not be possible to have everyone on stage. Therefore, each teacher will present the country they chose in their room. Parents will be given passports to circulate and see what you are presenting. That way you can decorate your entrance and room and set it up any way you wish to present it. If you still want to team up with someone and present together you are still free to do that, please just pick a room that the students will visit to see that presentation, (i.e. I could team up with Connolly and Lucas; we are all doing Mexico and we will present in Lucas’ room). Now we will be traveling throughout the building which will become the whole spanish speaking world.
MATH CHATS!!!
She is looking forward to working with us this year at the Big Hollow Math Chats. During this time we will have a chance to collaborate, explore Eureka materials, plan, and enjoy math. Grades kindergarten through eighth will have the opportunity to work together and learn more about the Eureka curriculum tool. Light snacks and water will be provided.
The Big Hollow Math Chats will be held on the third Tuesday of the month, from 4-5:00 PM at the District Office - Middle School Library. Those dates will include:
- Oct. 17, Nov. 2, Dec. 19, Jan. 16, * Feb. 27 - 4th Tuesday, Mar. 20, Apr. 17, May 15
- Teachers will receive 1 hour of CPDU credit and 1 hour stipend.

Recycling- PLEASE READ!!!
This year we will be enhancing our recycling program. We need your help! There will be new recycling containers placed in your classrooms. We need to avoid throwing items in the garbage if they can be recycled.
Students will need some help determining what is recyclable and what is not when placing items in your classroom bins. Attached is a flyer that I was hoping you could all share with your students on Tuesday to help facilitate this.
Every night, we will be asking the cleaning company to empty your classroom bins into the large recycling bins in the pods. Those will then be taken to the bins outside in back of the school.
