BHS Band Spring Concert • Friday, May 15th • 6:30PM
The Buckhorn High School Band Spring Concert is Friday, May 15th at 6:30 p.m. at Huntsville High School’s auditorium. The BHS Band students have been working on some incredibly exciting and difficult pieces – and they would love for you to come enjoy this experience with them. You will NOT be disappointed!
The Jazz Band will perform 3-4 pieces, including a killer arrangement of Pharrell Williams' "Happy". The Percussion Ensemble is working on performing a piece composed by one of our own students, Jake Williams. And the large Symphonic group will perform several pieces that will take you through an incredible musical journey, including very challenging music from the "Harry Potter" movies, Star Trek, and an authentic African tribal work (featuring the BHS percussion) which will blow you away. They will also perform TWO concertos featuring two of our incredibly talented senior soloists: Hannah Harris (alto sax) and Kayla Moyers (the #1 flute and piccolo player in the state of Alabama). You won’t want to miss it!
Make it a (free) Friday night, family outing. I know our students would be so happy to see you there!

National Honor Society • Bucks For Life • May 16th
Almost all of us have been touched by cancer in some way, so BHS NHS has decided to make a difference by raising money and walking in our local American Cancer Society Relay For Life.
At the event, our team will take turns walking around the track to raise money and awareness to help the American Cancer Society in the world’s largest movement to end cancer.
Our team is taking action to help finish the fight. Please join our team or make a donation. Saving lives from cancer starts with one team, one participant, and one dollar at a time.

On Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 11am to 5pm our Buckhorn Football Program is hosting a Mattress Sale fundraising event. This event has been VERY successful in school districts nationally and across Alabama over the last 8 years. We are excited to have the event here at Buckhorn!
The mattresses are extremely high quality and have outstanding full replacement warranties. They offer top brands which are made in the USA including Simmons and Restonic. Delivery is available, as is free layaway. All styles and sizes are available for you to lay on including plush, firm, pillow-tops, memory foam, latex, and gel beds.
The mattresses are also deeply discounted at 30%-60% below retail stores! 20 mattress sets will be on display, prices range from $249 to $2000. Prices go up from one set to another approximately $75….so we have something for everyone. You can also purchase a mattress only if you don’t need the box spring.
If you are in the market for a mattress set, or if you know someone who might need a mattress, please help spread the word. Our event is Sunday, May 17, from 11am to 5pm at Buckhorn High School. You can save a lot of money on a mattress set and support the kids in the football program. Tell your friends about this event & help support the Bucks!

Superintendent Matt Massey Speaks to the Class of 2015
Friday, May 1, 2015
In today's economy, a high school diploma just isn't enough. Students have to reach higher, which is why the First Lady is working to rally the country around the President's "North Star" goal — that by 2020, America will once again have the highest proportion of college graduates in the world. (https://www.whitehouse.gov/reach-higher)
Superintendent Massey encouraged our students to #ReachHigher and continue their pursuit of excellence after graduation in a few weeks!
Thank you Mr. Massey for taking time out of your busy schedule to share your inspirational words!
We would also like to thank BHS senior, Grayson Everett, and the Reach Higher Committee for planning and organizing our "Senior Signing Day." The Class of 2015 and our faculty members really appreciate all the time, hard work, and planning they did to prepare for the special event! #ReachHigher #GoBucks
Our teachers, counselors, and administrators continue to help make sure all of our students understand what they need to complete their education, by:
- Exposing our students to college and career opportunities.
- Sharing financial aid eligibility that can make college affordability a reality.
- Encouraging academic planning and summer learning opportunities, and
- Being committed to help our students get into college.
A very special thank you to Ms. Kaitlyn Gokee (pictured above) for creating the "Reach Higher" Bulletin Board in the Commons Area!
Inspirational Door Decorations! #ReachHigher
