Summer Updates

Summer Programming at Neighbourhood House

Neighbourhood House will be on a scaled down schedule over the summer. Most of our programs are not fully funded for the year, so we need to close the doors over part of the summer. We are committed to do our best to provide consistent programming, but even the staff need vacation! We will be offering a combined Drop-In Wednesday for all families of children aged 0-6 years from 10am to Noon on July 5 & 12 and August 23 & 30. This will just be a simple snack, songs, activity/craft morning and a chance for you to pick up prenatal supplements, visit the clothes cupboard or come and say hello. The rest of the time, programs are closed until the week after Labour Day, September 11th. There will be staff in the building throughout the summer so if you need us, don't hesitate to call. If you have any questions around Neighbourhood House programming, contact Lynnene at 778-460-5105 or email lynnene@kootenayfamilyplace.org

New Therapists have Arrived!

Jytte originally grew up in Castlegar and even went to Hobbit Hill as a child! She moved away after high school to do her bachelors in physical education at the University of Alberta. Jytte returned to Edmonton in 2011 to complete her masters in physical therapy. She first got excited about working in paediatrics during a school placement where she travelled to Indonesia to work with kids with neurological conditions. After completing school, Jytte worked as a private practice Physio for 3 years. Jytte and her husband were really excited to move back to the Kootenays from Salmon Arm!

Sheri is originally from beautiful Salmon Arm and took her OT training in the Maritimes. She is an avid runner and a personal trainer. Sheri is looking forward to working with the therapy team at KFP and we are very excited to have her with us!

Congratulations Sally!

A big shout out to Sally Bojechko for reaching a 30 year milestone at Kootenay Family Place. When we asked her to summarize her 30 year tenure here she simply said.."There's no place like home, and that is what KFP has been for me". Sally is the Director of Child Care programs at Kootenay Family Place.
