2. What was the hardest thing you had to do today?

3. Did any of your classmates do anything funny?

4. What questions did you ask at school today?

5. Who did you play with today? What did you play?

6. What subject has been challenging for you so far?

7. How were you kind today?

8. Who did you sit with at lunch?

9. Can you show me something you learned (or did) today?

10.What are you looking forward to tomorrow

Harvest Festival is Silver Gate’s annual Halloween carnival and it's one of our biggest and most anticipated fundraisers of the year. This year, the event will take place on October 29th from 2-5pm. There is fun for the whole family including yummy food, games, ponies, a petting zoo, giant inflatables, arts & crafts, a cake walk, bake sale and the famous Haunted Hallway to name just a few of the attractions.

Around 200 volunteers come together to make this event happen so we cannot do it without you! If you can volunteer your time before, during or after the event, even an hour makes a big difference! The first committee meeting will be held on September 19th at 5:30pm in the Silver Gate library. Please come to learn how you can participate.

Meeting Time: September 19, 5:30 PM

Meeting Location: Silver Gate Library

Thank you for whatever you can do to help to make this super fun family event happen!

How to Receive Text Messages From Silver Gate!

How do recipients opt-in to receive text messages?
1. Text the word "YES" to 67587 from each wireless device they wish to receive texts on.
2. Confirm the text device number(s) are in SchoolMessenger. [Note: Depending on the data synchronization configuration it may take 24 hours or more for numbers to be updated from the district SIS database.]

You will hear this all the time. Write your students name on their backpacks, sweatshirts, hats, water bottles, and anything else that can be separated from their body. We say this all the time and yet, our Lost and Found is always overflowing. If an item has a name on it, we happily return it to the owner.

SGT/SSC Nominations

Silver Gate Elementary is looking for three parent representatives who are willing to support the shared decision making process to improve student achievement through quality teaching and learning experiences.

In nominating, please keep in mind:

- Elected member will serve a two-year term with an option for one re-election.

- Elected member should represent the needs of our entire student population and strive for improved student achievement for all students.

- Membership may be terminated upon being absent for three meetings.

If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else, please fill out this Google Form.

Volunteer Interest Form

We have a great parent and caregiver community at Silver Gate Elementary. Join us in building a better tomorrow for all students! We would like to hear from you. What are your talents and interests?

Leader in Me!

Silver Gate Elementary is a proud Leader in Me school! “The Leader in Me" is Franklin Covey's whole school transformation process. It teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.” This is a wonderful opportunity for our school to build on social emotional work in a very systematic approach. Staff members attended professional development this summer and we will continue our learning throughout the year as we roll out the curriculum campus wide. I will continue to share news and information abut the program throughout the year.

Please do not send your child to school when they are sick.

When your child must be absent for any reason, please call the office at 858-988-2200 by 9:00 a.m. every day of non-attendance, giving the exact reason for the absence. You can also email Renee Erickson at

Any child arriving after 7:50 a.m. must stop in the office and pick up a tardy slip. This is disruptive to your child and the entire class. Let's set good habits early in the school year to arrive on time.

In order to improve our communication, FSG purchased Konstella which is the hub for all of the Silver Gates news, events, sign-ups and more! Check out the video and get the app loaded to your phone.
