See ya later

How trite it would be for me to write about Thanksgiving this week, but I would be remiss if I didn’t use this opportunity to give my own “thanks”. For the last few months, I have been honored to take up space in this publication and share some of the important components that make up the Shark Football program. I hope that, in some small way, you have come to learn a little bit more about us and, more specifically, our focus on chasing “Excellence” and pursuing “Significance”. It has been the intent to focus less on the nuts and bolts of playing football at Santiago, and more on the intended impact of the football program--internally for our players and coaches and more broadly for our school community. Thank you to Dr. Torres, Dr. Bako, and Coach Mitchell for suggesting this and providing this space. Also, thank you to our players and coaches who walk the TRAAIL with fidelity and challenge me daily to be a better person. AND, thank YOU for reading.

Last week, I wrote about the permanence of “goodbye”. And this week, it is time to say “see ya later”. It has been my honor over the past few months to share my thoughts with you and kick off this “Coaches’ Corner”. It is, however, called “Coaches’ Corner” (that’s plural) and so it is time for me to pass the torch to others whose thoughts we can all look forward to reading over the coming weeks. I humbly pass this on to the next coach(es) and look forward to the opportunity to return to you sometime in the future. Oh yeah, and…

Happy Thanksgiving!

Coach Mo

Santiago Wellness Center

We are creating a Wellness Center for students & staff here at Santiago and we would love for you to help us #ClearTheList. CLICK HERE

This month, we're encouraging you to try something new! Learning something new or getting involved in an activity that really absorbs and interests us is great for our wellbeing. Keeping our brains active is not only good for us physically but it can help you feel you are flourishing as you see yourself make progress with a new skill, or just make you smile as you make a mess and decide to start again. :) Being playful and trying new things is important, as is remembering that it's OK not to get it right first time - change "I can't do it", into "I can't do it...yet!" This month's calendar is full of ideas to help you decide what to try next.
