BOONE SCHOOL FAMILY NEWSLETTER
FEBRUARY 2020
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Families and Friends of Boone School,
Today is the first day of the 3rd quarter and we are officially half way through the school year! Please be on the lookout for students' report cards to be sent home on Friday, February 7th.
Now that the renovations in the auditorium balcony are complete, I'm looking forward to some fantastic events coming up, starting with this week's Talent Show. Come check out our amazing performers on the evening of Tuesday, February 4th! February will also bring the 100th Day of School celebration as well as our Black History and Civil Rights assembly at the end of the month. I look forward to seeing many of you at these upcoming events. Have a great February!
Sincerely,
Jackie Delaney, Principal
JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER Visits Boone School
Let Freedom Swing brings outstanding jazz artists and performances to school audiences. The free program, attended by our fifth and sixth grade students, includes three in-schools jazz concerts throughout the year: Jazz and Democracy, Jazz and the Great Migration, and Jazz and Civil Rights.
7th Grade Arts Integration with EPIC
The EPIC Team made their final selections for the EPIC Showcase in January. They loved the plays and monologues from Boone so much that they decided to choose two monologues and two plays.
They chose Karen Wants a Sprite Cranberry by Justin M., One Piece Makes a Difference by Khadeeja A., Toast to the Ones Here Today by Maryna I. and The Graveyards by Idalia R.!
The Performances took place on January 25th and 26th. Congratulations to all who participated!!!

BUILDING BOONE COMMITTEE
The Building Boone Committee is having a school-wide contest to collect parent/guardian emails. The contest runs from Monday, January 27th to Friday, February 7th. One class from each grade will will win a special prize. Emails will only be used by the Building Boone Committee to assist communication between the school and parents. It is important for organizations like the Building Boone committee to collect parent contact information on behalf of Boone School in order to keep parents informed with what is happening at the school and build community. Help your children's class win the contest by filling out the brief contact form at https://tinyurl.com/Boone-Parent-Info. A flyer was also sent home regarding this contest in school folders.
One purpose of money raised by the Building Boone Committee is to help teachers at Boone purchase items that build school spirit and community. For example, the BBC purchased the flags representing different countries that decorated the stage for the International Show. The BBC also recently funded T-shirts for Ms. Gramatis's class to memorialize the students' three years together with their teacher. Students wear the T-shirts every Friday and on field trips.
The Builidng Boone Committe meets in the evenings the first Thursday of every month. If you are interested in learning more about the group, contact buildingboonecps@gmail.com
