Take the 5 Essential Survey

Each year, parents have the opportunity to offer feedback on the Madison Elementary student experience. This year, our 4th and 5th Graders will also provide feedback on the Illinois survey. These results will be collected and reported on the school's Illinois School Report Card. Please take a few minutes to provide valuable feedback to our school and community: 5 Essential Survey

Save the date; come hungry

Save the date! Madison Pancake Breakfast is Sat., Jan. 26, from 8:30-10 a.m. in the MPR. Spend a fun morning with family, friends, and staff while enjoying delicious pancakes, sausages, juice, hot chocolate, and coffee. Look for flyers and registration coming home in backpacks after winter break.

Get involved with the PTA

Mark your calendars for the next PTA meeting on Monday, January 14 at noon in the art room. Mr. Callahan will address school safety.

Also, the PTA wants to hear from you! We know there are creative minds out there. Maybe you’ve seen something neat at another school or in the community that would work at Madison. Here is the chance to share your ideas. Can’t be there? You can share via email. If there are any topics you’d like to see discussed or addressed please feel free to email Lisa Thomas at president@madisonschoolpta.org.

Save Your Pop Tabs

Madison Elementary students will be collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities at Central DuPage Hospital throughout the rest of the school year. The funds RMHC receives from recycling the pop tabs helps keep families together while their loved one is in the hospital. RMH provides meals, a place to stay, and the comforts of home during a difficult time. Each grade will have a collection container outside of the office when we return from winter break. Students can collect pop tabs from home, family, friends, or neighbors. The grade with the most tabs collected at the end of the year will receive a special reward. Start collecting those tabs over winter break! Questions contact Amy at madisoncares@madisonschoolpta.org

Time to return Madison welcome signs

We hope your child enjoyed their "Welcome to Madison" yard sign. It is now time to return the signs so that they can be used to welcome our new students next year. If you would like to have your yard sign as a keepsake, please submit a check made out to Madison PTA in the amount of $8. Questions? Contact Julie Ippolito at julieippolito3@yahoo.com

Order a yearbook

Orders can now be placed for the 2018-2019 Madison Paw Prints. A yearbook costs $17 and will be delivered to the student before the end of the school year. For those new to the school, Madison Elementary School yearbooks cannot be ordered on ParentVue as with the middle school and high school yearbooks. Our yearbook is 52 full color pages that includes many of the wonderful activities and events that happen during the school year.

Please click here to order and pay with a credit card or check. The passcode is 1014308585474714.

Please refer to this spreadsheet that includes all orders as of Mon., Dec. 3, 2018, to verify if an order has been placed for your child.

The Yearbook Committee needs your help! Please consider joining our committee as there are many opportunities to help, such as taking photos of special events, creating actual yearbook pages using TreeRing, helping with orders and more. A volunteer or two from each grade level is needed to take pictures of each student and create the grade's collage page. Recycle your markers and crayons at Madison

The Conservation Committee students began a project to collect old dried up markers and crayons to be recycled and repurposed; thus saving them from a landfill. The markers can be any brand and are shipped free of charge back to the Crayola Company as part of their Color Cycle program where they are turned into clean fuel. The crayons will be collected and taken to SCARCE, a local organization that melts old crayons and turns them into new crayons for special needs students. There is a box in each classroom and in the office. Crayons and markers can be brought in from home. Thanks to Madison parent Kate Clarke for spearheading this awesome program and offering to collect and ship the markers.

Check Lost and Found

Lost and Found is already fulling up. Be sure to clearly label backpacks and lunch boxes on the outside, not the inside. As the weather turns colder, label sweatshirts, hoodies, coats, shoes, boots, mittens, scarves and hats! Look for lost items near the multi-purpose room.

Volunteer in the LLC

If you are looking for additional ways to help out at Madison, please consider volunteering in the library. This year we are short volunteers. Specifically, the LLC could use extra help on Tuesday and Friday mornings (9:15 a.m.-12 p.m.) and Wednesday and Thursday afternoons (1-3:30 p.m.). If you were to volunteer, you could expect to help check in and out books for students, shelf recently returned books and help Mrs. Graham with whatever else she may need that day. It is a lot of fun and we'd love to have you! Please contact Kathryn Medanic at llcvolunteers@madisonschoolpta.org to volunteer.

Save General Mills box tops

Please save General Mills box tops and turn them in to the LLC. Madison can earn ten cents for every General Mills box top received. Thank you to Cecilia Horjes for heading up this effort. We purchased many copies of award books for the library. Thank you for your support.
