Writing
In writing this week we started a journal! In this journal we are hoping to reinforce our sight words and build sentence structure. We started with a simple prompt of, “I am…”. The students copied the prompt and continued it by writing their name. Then, they drew a picture of themselves. We will continue to use the journals to monitor the students’ progress throughout the year.
We also have been working to build stories. We are continuing to zoom in on small moments and add details to our drawings. We have been telling the kids that writers are never done. They always have more work to do. We are going to continue to expand their ideas to write across pages. This writing can be expressed through pictures and words. We will incorporate our work on retelling in reading into our writing.
