The Patriot Way
August 28, 2023 Vol. 3
Front Office Notes
Patriot Nation,
Good afternoon! We hope everyone had a good week last week. The heat wave has passed, and I am sure you are looking forward to some normal August weather like we are. Our staff and students involved in extra curriculars did a great job of adapting and finding ways to get work done safely and efficiently. Thank you to the parents as well. It says a lot about the people in our students' lives who find ways to continue helping kids with their best interest in mind.
We are already approaching the month of September, which means Labor Day (September 4th) is right around the corner. There will be no school. As a reminder for the entire school year, if your student will be missing school for any reason (vacation, doctor, etc.), the parent/guardian must be the one to call in. We also need any documentation from a doctor upon the student's return to school.
There have been some questions from parents about Google Classroom and how they can stay up-to-date with their student. This newsletter includes a downloadable PDF How-To Guide for Parents. Please be sure to check that out!
This week looks to be another great week at SHS. Please reach out with any concerns or questions!
Best Regards,
Seeger Administration

Hello, my name is Carey Harris and I am the nurse for Seeger Jr.-Sr. High School. I just wanted to refresh kids and parents on some things that would help me best serve our student population.
-Please report any injuries your child has to Nurse Carey (765-893-4445 ext 2108). This is helpful for your child to have restrictions in place at school if they have a medical device such as crutches and/or a boot.
-If your child sustains an injury, I must get a letter of clearance once they are fully cleared to participate in PE and sports.
-If your child is an athlete, we do have an athletic trainer after school hours. They will not be permitted to see the trainer during class instruction time.
-If your child is sick at school, it is the expectation that you will have someone pick them up at Door 23 at the front of the school. They are not to attend any extra-curricular activities if they did not come to school due to an illness and cannot attend until they are 24 hours fever free without the use of Tylenol or Ibuprofen and have not experienced vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours.
-Midol is available in the nursing office now and I will call/text you to get approval for it to be given for your daughter. If your child is allergic to Midol please reach out and let me know.
-Medications are to be stored in the nurse's office. This includes Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Midol, prescription medication, and medicated creams. If your child has a rescue inhaler an Asthma Action Plan must be updated with Nurse Carey. If your child has an Epi-Pen, your child must have a doctor's note to carry this on them.
-PE is required for our students. Please send appropriate hygiene products with your child. If this is an issue please let me know.
Thank you for trusting me take care of your children. It has been an amazing experience so far!

Football
The boys took a hard fought, tooth-and-nail game Friday against the BC Bison. The 49-28 victory was tight all night long. With 2:00 minutes left until halftime, the Pats were up 20-14. Both teams scored within one minute and the first half had 28-20 on the scoreboard in favor of our Patriots. The second half did not let up on the excitement, but both squads were unable to continue the scoring featured in the first half. The fourth quarter was deadlocked at 28-28 until Tucker Herndon broke off a huge run to propel the Pats to 35-28 with a Chris Moody extra-point. This proved to the be all the Bison could handle, as the Pats continued to put up points in the last 6:30 of the fourth until 49-28 lit up the scoreboard at the final buzzer.
The Pats are now 1-1 and will face-off with the Ramblers next Friday.
JV looks to host the North Vermillion Falcons August 28.
JH will travel to BC on Thursday August 31.

Volleyball
The ladies went 6-0 in their sets this past week. A 3-0 victory over conference foe Fountain Central on Tuesday sparked some momentum to carry on to Thursday where another 3-0 win over Crawfordsville boosted the Lady Patriots record to 3-4. The Pats look to get another "W" with the home match vs. Attica (2-3) on Tuesday. The ladies will be home again on Thursday against the Wolves of Parke Heritage (1-6) to hopefully establish a 5-game win streak and break the .500 mark before going to Clinton Prairie on Saturday for an invite.
Check out team and league leaders here.

Golf
Girls golf will be on the road the entire week. Monday the will travel to Delphi, Wednesday heading to Parke Heritage, and then ending the week in Covington on Thursday. The girls have been very successful this year and hope to continue that with another undefeated week with a couple of conference victories.
