Finley Farms Community,
As we near the end of November, the week of Thanksgiving is a time I always reflect on what I am thankful for. Here at Finley Farms Elementary we have so much to be thankful for. The support and involvement we have from the community through volunteer efforts in the classroom, assistance with supporting our campus events, donations to our projects, and genuine interactions with staff to partner together and work as a team to meet the needs of our students are just a few examples of areas we as a staff are thankful to you. For me personally, I am thankful to our families for choosing Finley Farms Elementary as I have the pleasure of working alongside students that bring joy into our hallways each day with their smiles, laughter, desire to learn, and care for one another.
With the temperatures slowly dropping and signs we might finally stay below 80 degrees for the foreseeable future, many students are coming to campus with coats, jackets, and sweatshirts. Our Lost & Found table and coat rack is starting to fill up as it is common for students to shed layers as the day goes on. If your child is missing an item, encourage he/she to stop by the Lost & Found by the multi-purpose room entrance. Along with an influx of missing items, we have seen an increase in students arriving to campus prior to school. Families are encouraged to avoid dropping students off before our gates open at 7:45am for their own safety as we do not have adult supervision prior to the beginning of our day.
Moving towards the end of the calendar year, Finley Farms will continue with a variety of extracurricular activities to go along with our daily educational instruction. Upcoming we have PTO's Family Movie Night, Winter Band/Strings Concerts, Best Buddies Feast, special grade level and classroom projects, and our Pajama Spirit Day on December 18th. Our public school calendar can be linked to your personal device and act as a great resource to stay up to date on all our events along with checking the Finley Farms PTSO website on a regular basis. While you are visiting the PTSO website, take a look at the Spirit Store for the newest arrival of Falcon gear available this year!
Also happening in the world of our Parent Teacher Organization, last month we experienced great success in our Step It Up fundraiser! As with past fundraising events, PTO and the school will partner together on projects as plans are developed for how the students will directly benefit from our supportive community. The FFE PTO is hard at work discussing plans in consideration for how Step It Ups proceeds will be allocated to the school. Your involvement is encouraged by attending the PTO General Meeting Tuesday, November 19th at 6:30pm. Childcare will be available thanks to Highland High School National Honor Society students and Gilbert High School JROTC students for families wishing to attend and need supervision for children.
Sincerely,
Keegan Bassett
