Day 1 Highlights
Morning Meeting
In this morning's group meeting we revisited the idea of "bugs" in different projects by looking at funny fails in architecture! We discussed new vocabulary such as "blueprint" and "design thinking" to discuss how to solve problems in architecture. We also read two books: Iggy Peck Architect by Andrea Beaty and Roberto: Insect Architect by Nina Laden to get in the mindset of different architects! We also played with LEGOs to test out bugs and tested out which paper shapes hold the most books!
To kick off, we built Native American houses with cardboard and Popsicle sticks, we designed Vokis to thank community architects such as police officers, and we explored Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and created array gardens with the Cricut machine!
Recess Fun!
Afternoon Meeting
After recess and lunch, we came back inside to keep exploring our architecture skills. We had fun creating houses out of Rice Krispy treats (yum!), we had fun designing and creating houses with Cricut, and we created 3D houses and communities with CoSpaces!
