What's Going On?

Instructional Technology

All students at Gateway are working on creating new literature through various formats of technology. Our K5-2nd graders are working on reading all the Picture Book Award nominees and completing an activity with the book in order to create an eBook encompassing all the nominees. Our 3rd-5th graders chose a novel to read per class from the Children's Book Award nominees in order to create an book trailer (using Animoto) to promote their book.

Below is an example of a story that a 1st grade class wrote using their popcorn words. They drew pictures to go along with their story, read it, and recorded it!

Mission Statement

The Gateway Elementary School Library is a space where students are encouraged to think critically, be creative problem-solvers, collaborate, and extend content. Using both digital and print resources, students will explore and discover in hopes of becoming information literate and life-long learners.

About Mrs. Dover

I love being a Gateway Gator! My favorite book right now is a new one, Wonder by RJ Palacio. My favorite children's book is Goodnight Moon, a classic. I hope you'll come to the library and we can find your favorite books too!
