"Be the reason someone smiles today"
Good Things
- Happy Birthday Judith!!!
- Thanks to Shahenda for hosting Name that Tune. We had a great time Friday night.
- 5th-grade teachers are to be commended on their Camp Quarantine Way to go ladies!
Thoughts and prayers:
- Please keep Maria Karsha in your thoughts and prayers on the passing of her father in law.
Reminders:
Please sign up for the day(s) and time(s) you plan to be in the building to pack up student belongings and/or pack up your classroom/office for the summer.
Teacher Reminders:
1.) 3rd & 4th Grade Teachers: Please have your placement sheet completed by Friday, May 29th.
2) 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade: Please update the Seiko Reading Data wall with the instructional levels of ALL of your students. Think about what level the student was at in February and complete the February tab for your grade level. If you didn't do an F&P assessment on the student, use the data you do have on him or her to make an educated decision.
3.) 3rd Grade- Please refer to Jianna's email regarding IRIPs:
To be done prior to June 1st:
Closing the Individualized Reading Intervention Plans (IRIPs) for the Year
The intent is to capture a summary of the child’s growth and areas in which further intervention may be required. In the End of Year Summary section, please address the following:
- Areas of reading growth since plan initiated: This may include success on the identified goals in the IRIP, as well as larger reading successes. i.e.; John has increased his letter and sound knowledge and consistently recognizes letters and produces the correct sounds. He draws on his letter knowledge when reading texts, and “gets his mouth ready” with the correct sound when prompted.
- Needs still present (potential areas for future intervention): Identify areas where the child is not yet meeting grade-level standards. i.e.; While John uses letter knowledge to support his reading when prompted, he is not yet independent. John does not consistently cross-check between the pictures and text.
Storing Plans
The IRIP that you developed will become part of the child’s permanent school record. In prior years, we have printed them and put them in students' CA-60s, but we will have to wait on that this year, so you do not need to print them at this point. IRIP plans will also be uploaded to the students’ PowerSchool account. To facilitate this process, you are responsible for providing the secretary assigned to your building (see list below) with a PDF copy that is labeled according to the protocol below by June 1, 2020 at 4 PM.
Preparing IRIPs for Upload to PowerSchool
Open the IRIP in Google Docs
Rename your document as follows:
Last Name, First Name IRIP 19-20
(If you do not know how to rename a document, click this link.)
Download the plan as a PDF.
Do this by selecting “Download as” under the “File” tab and selecting “PDF” from the drop-down menu. (To see screenshots, click here.)
Attach all of the PDFs to one email with the subject line: IRIPs for Upload to Powerschool. Send them to the designated secretary and copy them to your building principal by June 1, 2020 at 4 PM.
