Paid Union Meeting

Wednesday 30 June

Dear Parent/Guardians

Farm Cove Intermediate staff who are members of NZEI Te Riu Roa will be attending a paid union meeting on the afternoon of 30 June. The purpose of this meeting is for teachers to discuss the priorities for the renegotiation of their collective agreement in 2022. Issues being discussed, such as school staffing levels, directly impact on your child's education. This meeting is a critical component of the negotiation process, and it is the legal right of all members to attend and have a say.

Legally, schools cannot be closed during these meetings, however, as you will appreciate this makes the supervision of our students at school challenging with there being only a few non-union teachers able to remain onsite. It will help us hugely if you are prepared to collect your child at 12.00 pm, or if you allow your child to walk home. We would greatly appreciate your assistance if you can help us by doing this.

The school bus will not run at 12.00 pm, however, the normal bus service will run at 3.00 pm.

If you are unable to collect your child at this earlier time, please be assured that they will be actively supervised at school. Students will not be permitted to leave school between 12.00 pm and 2.45 pm.

Please complete the form below to indicate your preference. Responses must be received by Friday, 25 June.

Yours faithfully

Tamara Jones

Principal
