November 9th: Bring a short video of student-teacher interaction or teacher-coach interaction. You can upload these as they are ready to our Google Folder.
Our first sessions focus on conversations in the classroom:
- Thursday, September 14th 4-5:30: Explore discourse, Forms & Functions of Language, IRE
- Thursday, October 5th 4 - 5:30: Contextualization (bring a snippet of conversation)
- Thursday, November 9th 4 - 5:30 Monologic and Dialogic talk

Objectives/purposes for this PD:
- explore ways in which we can use discourse analysis as a tool to reflect on how language is being used in our classrooms and how we might intervene to create deeper and richer opportunities for academic learning
- experiment with analyzing classroom interactions through the use of discourse analysis
- reflect on and explore ways to create instructional conversations that promote equitable and intellectually powerful learning.
