Notes from Mrs. Hamp
- 6th grade is a long way away and it is hard to start thinking of your child in middle school. However, the middle school counselors will be visiting Castlio in January to talk with the students about middle school schedules. I will be able to give you more specifics as the time approaches.
- This will be the last newsletter for the year 2015. We have had a great first semester full of learning and I look forward to what the second half of the year will hold.
What will we be learning this week?
Math: We will bring our Topic 7 to a close this week. We will spend a day reviewing skills that we have learned and take a test on Tuesday. The rest of the week we will review skills that we have learned throughout the last 2 quarters as well as taking a district math assessment for the quarter.
Reading: This week we will look at the roles of women in the Revolutionary war. Through various texts we will understand the importance of their roles as well as the importance of the Articles of Confederation. We will look through and find strengths and weaknesses in these documents and evaluate the importance of the Declaration of the Independence. This unit will come to a close on Monday and hopefully your child has a better understanding of how and why the United States of America was created.
Writing: We have been working hard at creating an argumentative essay about a famous person we should consider to be a hero or not. This week we will finish up our rough draft, revise and edit our writing and produce our final copy. The whole assignment will need to be complete by Tuesday of next week.
