When Henry first met his soon to be fourth wife, Anne of Cleves, she did not look anything like the paintings he had been shown. According to britroyals.com his words were " You have sent me a Flanders Mare!".

Overview of Henry's Life

Henry was crowned king at age 17. He had six wives, and suffered greatly from health problems towards the end of his life. He had a lot of issues trying to have a legitimate heir to take the throne after him, this attributed to his many wives. The reformation of the English church took place under the reign of Henry VIII.

King Henry VIII: The Church and The Reformation
According to englishhistory.net Henry VIII enjoyed sports and excelled in most of them in his younger years. As he became older, these grew to be torments to him. He began gaining weight making him even more bitter towards the reminders of his once loved past times.
Henry VIII's motto was "Coeur Loyal". This means "true heart". He had this embroidered on his clothes with a heart symbol and the word loyal. This is according to Linda Allchin.
Henry VIII could sing well and sight read music. He had a variety of instruments, he was most talented on the lute, organ, and virginal ( according to J. J. Scarisbrick - Yale University Press)
