Atentamente,
Lisa Dailey
Director Hazelbrook
Message From The Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we enter into the nicer weather, I wanted to remind you of our school's policy regarding weapons and "look-alikes" as it relates to squirt guns. The Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook clearly states that students are not allowed to possess weapons or "look-alikes" in or around school grounds/facilities, at school sponsored activities, at bus stops, or while traveling to and from school. Unfortunately, we have had to confiscate a few squirt guns this week.
Furthermore, we have noticed an increase in students joking about bringing guns to school and harming others with comments such as, “I’m going to kill you”. We take these statements very seriously by investigating and involving our School Resource Officer from the Tualatin Police Department each time. These investigations can take hours and cause significant disruption to our school day.
If you hear your child making comments that are similar in nature, please take the time to talk to them about the seriousness of these statements. While they may be joking with friends, it is important to understand that in today's world, we must take all threats seriously to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and for partnering with us to keep our school community safe.
Sincerely,
Lisa Dailey
Hazelbrook Principal

Climate Survey!
On the morning of Thursday May 18th.Hazelbrook students will participate in the PBIS School Climate Survey during community meeting.
The School Climate Survey is an anonymous survey used to identify school climate issues within our school. There are 9 questions asking about students' experiences at school and should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Students are also asked demographic information about how they identify. Click here to view a copy of the Student School Climate Survey questions. The data collected from this survey will be used to understand student perceptions of school climate issues within our school and how student identity may affect their school experiences. School staff will use the results to inform our efforts at improving our school climate.
Results are anonymous, but families are given the option for their student to opt-out of taking the survey. If you would like to opt-out your student, please contact one of our associate principals at the addresses below. Although we hope everyone is able to take the survey, we recognize some families may not want their students to participate.
Thank you!

¡Gracias!

Day of Silence
In the United States, 82% of LGBTQ+ students experienced first-hand harassment or bullying in their school and more than 30% of LGBTQ+ students reported missing school because they felt unsafe or uncomfortable. This Tuesday (May 16th) is Hazelbrook’s Day of Silence. Day of Silence is a national student-led movement that was created to highlight the silencing and erasure of LGBTQ+ people.
Please let Maria Carlsen, Lindsay Crawford, or Jeffrey Kennedy know if you have any questions.
