Opening Mass at OLMP
There has been a lot going on at OLMP! At the end of last week we had our Terry Fox Run where students raised $1316.15 for the Terry Fox foundation. The student that raised the most was Silas Gutmann.
We also had our grade 5-8 classroom reps announced for student council. Photos of each winner will be posted on the leadership bulletin outside of the fine arts room and students will have their first meeting at noon on Wednesday, October 10th in the art room. Students were selected by High School Leaders through a formal application process.
The week ended with mass, where our school and church community came together to celebrate the word of god. Students were on great behavior and there was great excitement when the announcement was made that our next school mass will be in the new church, which should be done by Christmas!

Message from OLMP Parent Association
We at Parent Council are trying to raise funds for the benefit of our children without asking families to do additional fundraising, as many of us do a lot of that through minor sports. Therefore, we are asking for a minimum suggested donation of $40.00 for single student families OR $60.00 for households with multiple students at OLMP. Also, if you have or know of a business who might want to make a larger donation, please feel free to pass the letter attached below on to them. Further details are in the letter.
Parent Council has a new email address: olmpparentcouncil@gmail.com
If you wish to send an e-transfer for your donation, please do so at the above address.
Or please make cheque payable to:

Yearbook Update
Yearbooks were distributed during TAG time this week by our Yearbook club members. Students who haven't paid but ordered online last year will not receive their yearbooks until they pay Mrs. Twitchell. If students haven't ordered but still want a yearbook they will have to wait to hear announcements if we have any extras. Students that were away when these were distributed can see Mrs. Delong to get their yearbook.

High School Leadership Students attend the Canada Student Leadership Conference
Our high school leadership program offers several leadership opportunities such as this that allow students to travel, connect with others and grow as future leaders in our school and community. Students interested should register for leadership class and/or contact Mrs. Smith. See the CSLC promotional video below for a snap shot of the conference.
Congrats to our Senior Golf Teams on a great season!
The Maker Movement at OLMP!
Teachers at OLMP have been adopting this philosophy into their classes and lessons. The Middle School (grade 5-8) commons has a MakerSpace and a rotation for classes to be in this space will be in place as the weather gets colder. More information will be coming on this in the weeks to come.
See below a couple videos to highlight more details on the Maker Movement.
Some of our teachers are working with Mr. Wispinski (our construction teacher) to create a lego wall in the middle school commons and we are looking for donations from our school community for lego to use once this is in place. Please bring lego donations to the office.
Book Recommendation
Books recommended:
#1. WILL WILDER & THE RELIC OF PERILOUS FALLS#2. WILL WILDER & THE LOST STAFF OF WONDERS
Author: Raymond Arroyo
Recommended by: Douglas & Mary Tien (St. Francis Church Deacon & his wife)
#1. WILL WILDER & THE RELIC OF PERILOUS FALLS
Will Wilder didn’t mean to unlock his otherworldly gift. But that is exactly what happens when Will “borrows” a sacred relic believed to protect the town of Perilous Falls for nearly a century. Even though his intentions are good, the impulsive twelve-year-old unwittingly awakens an ancient evil endangering all of Perilous Falls.
As boats sink and hideous creatures crawl from the rising waters, it is up to Will to confront a nightmarish enemy and set things right before it is too late. Along with his sweet—if lethal—great-aunt Lucille, the curator of a museum of supernatural artifacts, Will proves that the actions of one twelve-year-old boy can change the world.
#2. WILL WILDER & THE LOST STAFF OF WONDERS
When the storied Staff of Moses—responsible for summoning the plagues of ancient Egypt—vanishes from the museum in Perilous Falls, Will Wilder is suspect number one. Desperate to prove his innocence and stop the thief from unleashing terrors upon the town of Perilous Falls, Will must use his supernatural gift to locate the beast—but it’s nowhere to be found.
As the river runs with blood, sharp-toothed frogs surround his home, and clouds of swarming gnats choke the streets, Will must rely on his supernatural ability, everything he learned from his training, and help from his friends, siblings, and Great-Aunt Lucille to find the missing staff and unmask the hidden evil before time runs out for all of them.
Why it is recommended: Mary & I are recommending 2 books we have been reading by Raymond Arroyo from EWTN. The hero is a 12 year old boy named Will Wilder who lives in the small town of Perilous Falls. He and his friends have many exciting adventures that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. This series will appeal to those who want a good read that embraces Christian values.
