Husky Highlights

September 5, 2020

Hello Families~

It is my hope that you are taking the time to relax and enjoy a three day weekend together! We have finished our third week of school and continue to be very appreciative of the extraordinary amount of effort your children (and the parents!) are putting in to each school day. Our students are persevering with positive attitudes and we see that each and every day! Way to go Huskies~ we are proud of you!

Yesterday, the Boise School District released their Draft Plan for Phased Return to In-Person School. If you have not had the opportunity to view this plan, please go to the Boise School District Website at and click on the Covid-19 Response tab. The link to the draft plan can be found on this tab.

I have begun to receive multiple inquires as to the "in-person" assignments for students. Please understand that I am unable to take into account specific "pods", "micro-schools" or "daycare" learning environments when attempting to balance classrooms for these attendance days. Safety for our students (in terms of balanced class sizes) is our first priority as well consideration for families with siblings at Highlands as well as North Jr. High and Boise High School. We will do our very best to create a positive learning experience for each of our students but we will not be able to grant specific requests.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope that you know we will do our very best to meet your student's needs until we can all be together again. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Time to join the Highlands PTO! Throughout the year, the PTO supports essential resources and educational needs for our school (ie. educational tools, STEM night, service learning projects, monthly teacher appreciation events, teacher supplies, teacher trainings, MOSS scholarships).

The only thing required to be a member of PTO is to pay your annual $10 membership due. We did not have our two big PTO fundraisers - the Art Auction last spring and the Jog-A-Thon this fall, so if you would like to contribute more to support Highlands, you can do so when paying your dues. You can join PTO one of two ways:

1. PayPal (please UNCLICK the "paying for goods or a services" and put your first and last name in the "add a note" section)

2. Check - Drop off at the Highlands front desk (Make check payable to Highlands PTO and put your first and last name in the "for" line)

Please consider joining...we can do more together than apart!!
