9/7 Young School Newsletter
The First Two Days
Dear Young Families,
Thank you to our students and families for such wonderful participation in remote learning over the past two days. We appreciate your support and patience as we have navigated through this new remote learning environment. We’ve had a few issues this week, however we have been able to work through them. In addition, connectivity and speed continue to improve each day.
Just as if we were physically in the building Young teachers are:
Getting to know their students and creating a caring and positive classroom community
Developing a consistent classroom routine to help students understand what each day will look like
Modeling and reinforcing positive and appropriate zoom behavior and participation expectations
Helping students learn technology skills for accessing the various tools and programs available for student use
The above areas are valuable components of an effective learning environment. It takes time to teach these skills whether or not we are learning in person or remotely. As we progress through the next few weeks, we will see a more cohesive classroom community, growth in students’ independence and a continued increase in academic rigor.
Young teachers are planning and preparing to provide Young students and families with a positive and productive learning atmosphere. Please know that we are very thankful for all of the hard work that Young parents are doing to support their children as they learn from home. We also appreciate the encouraging notes and comments that we have received from our families.
As a reminder, we have a Young Parent Tech Folder that has directions on how to do various online tasks. Young Parent Tech Folder
We would like to say “Thank you to the Young PTA” for providing a dolphin "squeezy" toy to all Young students.
We will see you back for remote learning on Tuesday, September 8. We also look forward to seeing you at Young's Virtual Curriculum Night on September 10.
