The first ever yearbook for the new Southside will come out in May, but this year, unlike any other year, they must be preordered. We will not be allowed to order any extra yearbooks for people to buy at the end of the year.

Secure your yearbook now! Send your student with $40 to the bookkeeper, Mrs. Johnson, or the Yearbook advisor, Robin Voss. Deadline is March 10, 2023.

ACCESS Testing

Our Multilingual Cubs will take the ACCESS for ELLs assessment on Feb 1-8, 2023 at Southside Middle School. ACCESS for ELLs measures English language proficiency in the four language domains: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Results from the assessment will be sent home to parents at the end of the school year.

Introducing the all new SFHS Cub Corps Program!!!

The South Florence Marching Bruins are launching their new "Cub Corps" after-school program for all Southside MS students currently enrolled in a band class.

The program is a marching band preparation program that is designed to prepare students for the SFHS marching band auditions. All students who successfully complete the "Cub Corps" program will be offered a spot in the 2023 SFHS Marching Bruin Band with no Marching Band Audition. Students that do not participate in the program are still welcome to join the program; however, they will have to successfully complete an audition.

The program will meet one day a week, every other week. Each week will focus on a specific skill set that is needed to be a successful member of the SFHS Marching Band.

It is important to note that for a student to "complete" the Cub Corps program and be exempt from auditioning, that student must be at all 5 Cub Corps workshops.

It is also important to note that every Cub Corps Student will have assignments that they will have to work on. Each workshop will focus on 1 skill set that is part of the marching band world. At the final workshop, Mar 29th, each cub corps member will be asked to perform their assignments.

This means that each Cub Corps member will have to earn their spot in the Bruin Marching Band. If a Cub Corps member fails to successfully perform more then 1 of the assignments, they may not be invited to join the Bruin Marching Band. Don't be worried, if you are at each workshop and you're taking the time to practice what is covered, you'll be fine.

All Southside MS students will need to attend the Cub Corps workshops or audition regardless of prior involvement with the SFHS Marching Band.

February 21st - 24th @ Advantage Academy

Students in grades 7th and 8th have the opportunity to attend a nontraditional camp at Advantage Academy to learn about early childhood, electricity, and welding courses. If interested, please complete the google form below.
