BECS Parent Newsletter
November 4, 2022
Dear Hawk Families,
We had another fantastic week learning and celebrating with students! Students who celebrate Halloween were invited to wear their costumes to school. It was great to see the variety of student costumes and how much they enjoyed this opportunity.
This week our Principal Advisory Council members attended the Brighton Image Summit which is a youth leadership conference. Our Principal Advisory Council is a group of nine middle-school students who applied and were accepted to be student leaders within the building. This group represents our student voice and assists with planning and decision-making. We are looking forward to seeing them continue to grow as they represent our student body!
Fall is upon us and in Colorado this means snow is in the air! Please see our School Closure policy below for information regarding snow days and delayed starts.
Your Vote Counts 2022! Less Than One Week Left to Turn In Your Ballot! For information regarding this year’s Ballot Question 5.B and where to turn in your ballot click here. Counselor's Corner
Every November we have the opportunity to focus on gratitude - for our friends, family, and all of the various blessings we each enjoy. Did you know that gratitude plays an important role in your mental health? According to the National Institute on Mental Health (NAMI) people who focus on things that they are grateful for are happier, have less depression and have stronger physical and mental health. In fact focusing on happy thoughts can actually alter your brains’ natural pathways making it easier to see the good in your life. An easy way to start is to write down 5 things that you are grateful for each day. It doesn’t have to be anything grand, maybe it’s something as small as your favorite food, the cool, brisk autumn day, or even the playful puppy next door. You’ll be surprised how quickly those happy thoughts start adding up. You can even make it a game within your family to see who can come up with the most things to be grateful for.

School Closures/Delay
5.1.21 School Closure, Delay or Early Release
In the case of inclement weather, Bromley East will follow the decision of 27J Schools (i.e., snow day or delayed start). For delayed start, Bromley will be on a 1-hour delay. Please watch 9News or listen to KOA radio (850 AM) for information regarding school closures and delays.
If the school is closed due to bad weather, activities such as sports, drama, or other after-school activities will most likely be canceled. However, the weather can change dramatically allowing for safe conditions to exist later in the day. If this occurs, the sponsor/coach will contact the participants and make sure they are aware of the situation.
Delayed Start - 1-hour delay
Students will attend school starting at 9:30 AM and end at 3:30 PM for Elementary and 3:40 PM for Middle. Students may arrive on campus starting at 9:10 AM and will continue to enter the building through their normal doors unless otherwise stated. Breakfast will not be served on these days; however, lunch service will continue as scheduled. Innovation Learning will be closed in the morning and open after school.
Early Release
In the event Bromley releases school early due to weather or other circumstances, parents will be notified via text, auto-dialer, and email with details regarding the release process. Innovation Learning will be closed after school.
Snow Days
Students will not attend school virtually or in-person for that day only. Innovation Learning will be closed. This will be a non-contact day for students. If consecutive days are needed, on the second day and subsequent days, students will engage in online learning following the schedule provided by their teachers.
Should Bromley experience more than 3 non-contact (stand-alone) snow days, additional contact days may be added to the school calendar to ensure we meet our instructional hours requirement by CDE.
