Celebrating Creativity

Maker Week is almost here! It's been great to see so many classes off to a great start with planning their work. Kids have been talking about the things they are thinking about and are fired up to get started. With all the pressure we might feel in education, I am glad that creativity has not been left off the menu. We always have more things that we want to do than we have time to accomplish them. I wanted to share this video about the connection between creativity and time. As we prepare for maker week, let's do our best to budget the time needed to make this experience worthwhile. I know our students will remember this for a long time.

Happenings

Maker Week Help

We have asked the middle school and the high school for student help with the Maker Week. We will see what they have available. I will offer up their help as soon as they let me know what's available. Keep your eyes open for a quick turn around on this support.

Leadership Notes

Here is the link for the leadership notes from our last meeting.

Teacher Help at Lunch

The lunch supervisor staff needs your help 2nd and 3rd grade. They would like your help with lining kids up to get them back to your class. They are hoping you will pick your students up this week at the lunch tables. They will have your students waiting in line. Thank you for your support.

Prestwood Direct Tree

Prestwood Direct is starting a new campaign to raise money and beautify our school. A parent has donated money to create a metal tree mural on the front wall of our school. It will be beautiful as you can see below. It is also a fundraiser because they want to offer inscribed leaves for any family that donates $1,000 or more. The names on the leaves will be subtle. This is similar to the "name on a brick" idea that you see in many schools, but will be an art piece. If you have questions, please let me know.

District Visit

Every month the principals meet at a school site for our administrative council meeting. Our goal this year has been to visit classrooms and understand what teaching and learning looks like around SVUSD. The administrators will be visiting Prestwood on the morning of February 16. We have been focused on noticing types and amounts of student discourse. As the visit approaches, I will share a schedule for our rotations.
