The War of 1812 was a defining time period in American history because it was when we fought for our rights and independence from the British. Our national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner, was developed during a tragic battle in the War of 1812. During the time, Great Britain most to all the advantages on it's side. The United States showed their will to fight the odds stack against them even in the darkest hours.

The Gilded Age was a defining era because it was when America’s economy skyrocketed and major industries like oil, steel, and railroads grew more and more over the course of time because of people like John Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and J.P. Morgan. Because of them, the made our nation's industries boom. They were the richest men in America and made the foundations of what we live with today!

World War II defined Americans because we stood against all the odds that Hitler, Germany, Japan, and Italy threw at us. We came together to strategize how to overcome the strength of Germany. President Roosevelt was a huge monumental figure during the time, and he kept our nation going. He also pulled the United States out of it's darkest times.
