Hawk Talk
Message from Mr. Carlson
It was a sweet week here at Rice Lake as I made good on my promise! I told students that the top three fundraisers could deliver a pie to my face when we met our goals.
Landon Cordie, Abe Simonson and Sam Sybrandt all had a great time, as you can see in the pictures above. They may or may not have gotten a little whipped cream on themselves too! It was a lot of fun for all of us.
Just a quick note about the changing weather. Parents, be sure to send your students with the appropriate clothing to school. As the weather gets colder kids need the right outerwear to keep them warm.
It looks like it is going to be a good weekend to snuggle up with a book and maybe get in a movie as well.
Have a great weekend and Go Hawks!
Mr. Carlson
Thanks to everyone who donated to conference meals last night.
The teachers were able to eat some Chipotle and focus on talking with parents.
We are so appreciative for the PTO and all the parent donations
that help make conference meals possible.
If you did not get a chance to donate to help cover the cost, but would still like to, please click on the PayPal link below.

The PTO will bring in Jersey Mike's next Tuesday night for teachers during conferences.
Next Tuesday, during Parent-Teacher conferences our lost and found will be on display in the Atrium.
It's getting pretty full so please take a look for items that may belong to your student.
Please remember to put student names on any items that they bring to school.
We do our best to return lost belongings that have a name on them.

If proper documentation is not provided, students will be unable to attend school after November 1, 2023. What you need to do:

- If you missed a required vaccination, make an appointment with a healthcare provider or local clinic as soon as possible.
- Follow up with your students’ school if they have reached out to you regarding your student’s immunization status.
- Turn in medical (must be signed by health care provider) and non-medical (must be notarized) exemption forms to your child’s school.

School Board Hosts Listening Session for the Public
In the District’s ongoing efforts to gather feedback from our stakeholders, the Centennial School Board is hosting a listening session for the public on October 16, 5:30pm-6:15pm. The session will be held in the District Board Room prior to the regularly scheduled School Board meeting.
Listening Sessions are held quarterly to provide the opportunity for community members, staff, parents, and students to meet informally with Board Representatives and the Superintendent to discuss topics in the schools. More information can be found on the Centennial website.
Kindergarten Preview at Centennial Schools
The Centennial School District invites families of kindergarten students, eligible to enroll in the 2024-2025 school year, to Kindergarten Preview. Each elementary school in the district (Blue Heron, Centennial, Centerville, Golden Lake, and Rice Lake) will host a preview on October 24, 9:45am-10:30am. This is a great opportunity to tour the school, ask questions, and give prospective students a fun and memorable experience. Call your neighborhood school to sign up! This free event is one opportunity for families to connect with the school; attendance is optional.
National School Lunch Week: October 16-18
Centennial Schools will celebrate National School Lunch Week October 16-18. The National School Lunch Program serves nearly 30 million children every school day. Not only does the program help reduce childhood hunger, but it also supports American agriculture.
