Peek at the Week
Mrs. Bennett's First Grade News, Week 13, November 13-17
A Note From the Teacher
The students were so proud to share their adventure stories. Thank you for helping your child complete this activity! Next week in reader's workshop, we will focus on making connections with our stories and connecting them to other books we read. We will also learn how to retell the sequence of events in "The Great Turkey Race", "Stone Soup" and other Thanksgiving stories. I will continue to teach students how to use proper and plural nouns in their writing. We are learning how to make our writing colorful. We are working on adding super synonyms, dialogue, and thinking. It is amazing how far we have come! In math, we will focus on solving word problems. We will learn how to use key words to determine whether to add or subtract. Our social studies unit will focus on the history of Thanksgiving while comparing the life of a pilgrim child to the present. We will make a Thanksgiving book to show all we have learned!
