More information and the Community Service form are available online.
The Common App is open for business
Seniors! Note that the Common App has been opened for 2017-18.
Check and see if it is accepted by colleges that you are interested in. Then set up an account [Pro tip: use your Woods email and password] and get started.
Applying to colleges is a project, so plan to spend time on it. You can begin filling out the information and go back to it later. You will have a chance to review your transcript, talk with your advisor, and gather the information you need.
Before school starts, talk as a family about college priorities, goals, and costs. Check deadlines, requirements, and make a list of questions so you can make the most of your process.
Class trips on the calendar
Each grade-level has a trip or event to look forward to this year. More information and permission slips will be forthcoming through advisory. Here's a heads up for your planning:
9 - Ninth-graders will enjoy a day of team-building and leadership at Triangle Training Center on September 1. Permission slips will be available at Orientation, and should be returned to advisory.10 - The tenth grade is planning a 3-day trip to Washington, DC in March to see national landmarks, monuments, and museums, a exceptional complement to Civics and Economics.
11 - The junior class trip to the Great Smoky Mountains Institute is planned for November 29-December 1. This is always an phenomenal experience that inspires and challenges students to be their best selves.
12 - The Fall Senior Retreat at Camp Chestnut Ridge is planned for October 26-27, an annual overnight tradition that will orient the class to the year ahead.

Use of a planner or digital organization calendar is required. Planners will be available for sale at the beginning of school.
Do I need a laptop?
- All students have assignments that require internet access, word processing, and online research.
- Most teachers use Google Classroom as a digital platform.
- All teachers communicate via email.
- More than half of high school students bring a laptop to school on most days.
Woods has campus-wide wifi and a computer lab and ChromeBooks available by reservation or arrangement.
The purchase of a laptop, tablet, ChromeBook, or other device is a family decision; Woods does not require students to have laptops. Many students find having their own laptop, when possible, a great convenience.
We make every effort to ensure that students have access to technology needed to support learning.
