Bobcat Weekly Update
We Know Every Child by Name and by Need
September 14, 2018
Lakeview Leaders!
Phew! Thank you so much for all you do. I know we have a few student exhibiting some sad choices right now. Please don't let that be the only focus as you leave for the week. Yes they are frustrating, but there are many more students in your classes who are loving every minute of being here with you. As hard as it is, try to leave thinking of the GOOD:) Monday is always a new day:)
Enjoy a great weekend!
Capturing Kids Hearts
For those who have not been trained yet, I promise it will continue to make more and more sense once you have gone through the program:)
As we begin the 3rd week of school we should have completed or worked towards our:
Social Contracts - Remember these are to be posted visibly in the classroom and referred to as needed.
4 Questions - These should also be displayed and referred to. The 4 questions are an awesome way to put responsibility for student choices back on students.
1. What are you doing?
2. What are you supposed to be doing?
3. Are you doing that?
4. What are you going to do about it?
For reference:
UIL - From Ms. Stuebe
I will be Lakeview’s UIL Campus Coordinator again this year! I am thrilled to be a part of such an amazing opportunity for our students. UIL is the University Interscholastic League, a battle of the wits and minds in different subject areas. My goal for Lakeview is to increase the number of students participating in UIL. Before we get students involved, I need you! Coaching a UIL team is a great way to share what you love and inspire others to use their talents and abilities, especially ones we don’t normally use in the classroom. Also, you can co-coach with a parent or teach if you want two brains instead of 1!
If you are interested in coaching a team, please complete this google form before Friday, September 21.

Response to Intervention
The RtI process is new this year so we won’t be up and running for a couple more weeks. I’ll be facilitating RtI from now on (no longer called SST) and my training is still in progress. Penny will still be able to offer support but the entire process is changing and we will all have different roles to play. As you may have heard or remember, teachers will be responsible for inputting their own progress monitoring data. I’ve asked Jennifer Bailey to meet with us so she can show us all what that looks like. Once I hear from her I’ll let you know but for now please begin documenting on your own when offering extra support to students you plan on bringing to RtI. Ex: weaknesses, what you’re targeting, what kind of extra support are you offering, dates you began offering said support, results/data collection, etc. That way when we officially begin and place students on Tier 2 we’ll have data ready for entry.
In the meantime, here are a few sign-up dates if you want to meet on certain students. It’ll be informal – just taking notes on paper – but at least we can start the discussion process. Thanks for being patient as we all learn this new system together!
