TVUSD~Health & Safety
Coronavirus, COVID 19 Update~
Our top priority is the health and safety of our students and staff, and we take this responsibility seriously. As a school community, there are some things that we all can do. It is flu season and we are following the best disease-prevention practices in schools. You should also follow best practices at home, such as:
Frequently washing your hands with soap and water
Keeping surfaces clean
Sneezing or coughing into a tissue or your elbow
Most importantly, keeping your child home when they are sick with flu-like symptoms, including a fever of 100-degrees Fahrenheit or 38-degrees Celsius or higher, shortness of breath, and coughing
Call your school if your child is staying home sick to let them know.
If you have specific questions regarding novel coronavirus, please, visit www.rivcoph.org/coronavirus or call 2-1-1. You can also call the CDC hotline at 1-800-CDC-INFO.

Healthy Heart at The Ranch!
This is the last Week of our Healthy Heart Challenge~
Rancho Elementary is raising money for The American Heart Association in honor of Roadrunners with heart conditions.
Meet Nico Sardina, 5th Grade Roadrunner
He was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve at the age of 8 at his yearly routine check up.
A bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is an aortic valve that only has two leaflets, instead of three. The aortic valve regulates blood flow from the heart into the aorta. The aorta is the major blood vessel that brings oxygen-rich blood to the body. Nico can never play tackle sports, but he remains active in basketball and water polo. He makes sure he eats healthy with salad as his favorite food and attends yearly check ups with the cardiologist. We are proud to honor Nico as we raise money for the American Heart Association and take the Healthy Heart Challenge by focusing on eating healthy, exercising, and promoting kindness to grow our healthy hearts. Please consider donating to our cause. No matter how big or small your donation~every little thing counts!
Kids Heart Challenge~Last Week
Dear Parents –
Hello Parents—
Our students are committing to heart health through the Kids Heart Challenge! Don’t forget to register and join in on the fun. Get started now by downloading the FREE APP called Kids Heart Challenge for Apple or Android OR visit www.heart.org/kidsheartchallenge and search Rancho Elementary to join our team and take the heart health challenge! Use the APP to share on social media and sent text messages! It’s easy, and with your first online donation you will get a wristband and two of the heart heroes, Perrie and Knox! Earn Sofie when you reach $40 online. Sofie loves to spread the word about healthy eating and tells everyone to add color to their plates. Knox and Sophie will slide on to your new Heart Hero wristband so you can display your commitment to heart health! Our Kids Heart Challenge event day is coming up!
