On Wednesday, May 19, in partnership with Sight Savers America, Fulton County Schools will be offering FREE Vision Screenings for all students in Grades 3 and 5.
Face-to-Face Students: All face-to-face students will attend the screenings with their class. If you do not want your child to be tested, please email our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Consolo (consolom@fultonschools.org), no later than Friday, May 14.
Remote Students: We invite our remote students to join us on Wednesday, May 19. Parents/guardians of our remote students should drop them off at the front entrance and wait for their child to finish their exam. Remote students are invited to attend during their homeroom teacher’s time, which is shown in the table below. If you have any questions, please email our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Consolo (consolom@fultonschools.org).
Georgia Milestones
Thank you to our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students and teachers for a very successful and smooth Georgia Milestones testing experience! We are so proud of your hard work over the course of the past two weeks! We appreciate your flexibility and patience during carpool as we welcomed over 60 remote students who participated in testing. Data from the Georgia Milestones assessment will be incredibly beneficial and will guide instructional planning for our students. Thank you for all your support during Georgia Milestones this spring!
2021-2022 School Year
At the April 22 FCS Board Meeting, it was announced that all students would be returning to face-to-face instruction in August. While we are extremely excited about this news, there are some virtual options available for students in grades 3- 12. Please click here for additional details regarding virtual learning opportunities for the 2021-2022 school year.
Student Devices
Students in grades 2-5 who are returning to Abbotts Hill or moving up to Taylor Road Middle School will be able to keep their assigned technology device this summer. Please store your device and charger in a safe place. Click here for more information on care and storage. If you are withdrawing from Abbotts Hill, or transferring to another Fulton County School, please contact Ms. Alice Lan at lan@fultonschools.org. She will help you with the withdraw/transfer process and make arrangements to collect your child’s device and charger prior to May 27.
Enrollment Intent for the 2021-2022 School Year
As we begin to plan for the 2021-2022 school year, having an accurate student count is very important. We are asking parents to help us now, in order to ensure we know who will be in our building next year. If your child will NOT be returning to Abbotts Hill next school year, please contact Ms. Alice Lan at lan@fultonschools.org for information regarding the withdrawal process. If you have a child that will be NEW to Abbotts Hill next year, please visit our website by clicking here to register your child. Spring registration began on March 31. We are asking parents to register sooner rather than later! Thank you for your help as we prepare for the 2021-2022 school year.
Mental Health Awareness Month
With the end of the school year rush upon us and the lingering effects of the pandemic, May is an appropriate time to observe Mental Health Awareness Month. Now, more than ever, it is critical to reduce the stigma around mental health struggles, as stigmas often prevent individuals from seeking help. The 2021 theme is “Tools 2 Thrive,” and Fulton County Schools has partnered with Mental Health America to provide practical tools that can help everyone, regardless of their personal situation, improve their mental health and increase resiliency. This week’s focus is on Adapting to Stress. We all face stresses and hard times throughout our lives. Adversity of any kind can be hard on your mental health but working on becoming more resilient can help you feel more at ease. Here are some tips you can use - Process your thoughts • Connect with people • Don’t compare your experience to others • Take care of your body • Know it will take time • Give yourself grace • Don’t feel ashamed to ask for help. Click here to watch a webinar on owning your feelings and moving through emotional discomfort.
Fulton County Schools COVID-19 Information Site
The FCS COVID-19 site provides updates regarding resources, cases, positive trend rates, and pediatric reports. For the latest information on COVID-19 in Fulton County, please click here to access the site.
Fulton County Board of Health COVID-19 Reporting Site
The Fulton County Board of Health and Fulton County Schools have developed an on-line portal for FCS parents/guardians to report student COVID-19 related cases. The portal has been updated to include Spanish, Korean, and Chinese language options. FCS parent/guardians will find a dropdown at the top right for translations. Please make a report to the FCBOH when your student is COVID-19 positive, has a pending COVID-19 test result, or has been in direct contact with a COVID-19 positive person. Also, please use this resource for official reporting rather than alerting the school and/or teacher. If you must engage the school/teacher, please do so after you have made an official report to the FCBOH. Lastly, to ensure the protection of our school community, please do not allow your child to attend school or school-sponsored events when he/she is ill and/or has any of the above COVID-19 concerns. Please click here for more details and consider posting this document in a visible location, i.e. the refrigerator, for easy access. www.fultonschools.org/ReportCOVID.
Year End Medication Reminder from the Clinic
All medications stored in the clinic must be picked up no later than Wednesday, May 26th. No medications will be stored in the clinic over the summer. Any medications (prescription & over the counter) left at the end of the day on the 26th will be destroyed.
If your student currently has prescription medication in the Abbotts Hill clinic, paperwork should be coming home with your student this week. This will give you the opportunity to complete the new paperwork for the 2021-2022 school year over the summer with your student’s doctor. New student health plans and authorization to give medication at school forms are to be completed for each new school year. These forms can also be found on the Fulton County website under the Student Health Services tab under Parent Resources at: https://www.fultonschools.org/Page/7525
Thank you & have a great summer,

Hello Jaguars, The Kids Heart Challenge gifts are here! If your child collected donations for KHC back in February, Heart Month, be on the look-out for their bag of thank you gifts from the American Heart Association. If your child is a remote learner, you can come by the school and pick up their thank you gifts at the front desk starting on Tuesday, May 11th. Please email me at Johnston@fultonschools.org with your child's name and grade level, ahead of time, so I can have your child's gifts at the front desk with Mrs. King. If your child is a F2F learner, they will receive their thank you gifts during their PE class time over the next couple of weeks. Thank you for your continued support of the American Heart Association!
Currently the students are learning and practicing the Field Day events during their PE class time, to celebrate the end of the year with their classmates. Unfortunately, we will not have a traditional Field Day event this year due to the current health crisis.
We hope everyone has a wonderful summer and remember to maintain a healthy lifestyle!
