Outreach: Sharing Teaching and Learning in CGI Mathematics

Workshops with El Segundo and Camino Nuevo

Lead Math Demonstration Teacher Darlene Fish, the Math/CGI Committee and many other teachers are sharing expertise on CGI Math with California schools. Educators from the El Segundo Unified School District are wrapping up their third year of work with us, and new teachers from Camino Nuevo Charter Academy are just beginning their journey.

California Mathematics Council Conference

EC Demonstration Teachers Linnea Paul and Rosie Torres co-presented a session entitled "Counting & Number Sense with Young Children" at the 56th Annual Mathematics Conference presented by the California Mathematics Council - South, in Palm Springs in November. The conference brought together classroom teachers, math coaches, administrators, and math experts from schools across California for a focus on "Orchestrating the Common Core Classroom.” The session looked at how teachers can address the Common Core State Standards using CGI Math to support student engagement and participation, build a community of active learning, and encourage the articulation of mathematical thinking in English and in Spanish.
