Romeo and Juliet Summitive
Although people think it was the families feud that caused the death of Romeo and Juliet it was actually Friar Laurance. Friar could of turned Romeo down to marry him and Juliet, but he didn’t knowing that something bad was going to happen. “O, she knew well thy love did read by rote and could not spell. But come, young waverer, come, go with me, In one respect I’ll thy assistant be; For this alliance may so prove, To turn your households’ rancor to pure love.”(Act: 2 Scene:3 )Friar Laurence knew that by marrying them it was going to either start a huge war or someone was going to get hurt.
Instead of helping Juliet run away he gave her a poison to make her sleep and didn’t tell romeo right away.“Take thou this vial, being then in bed, and this distilled liquor drink thou off; When presently through all thy veins shall run a cold and drowsy humour, for no pulse shall keep this native pulse, but surcease: No warmth, no breath, shall testify thou livest; The roses in thy lips and cheeks shall fade to paly ashes, thy eyes’ windows fall, Like death, when he shuts up the day of life;...”(Act:4 Scene:1) Friar Laurence gave Juliet a poison that made her seem dead instead of just helping her sneak out of Verona and go to mantua. Friar also could of given Romeo the information directly instead of mailing it.
