1. Will there be an orientation for new families. I still have no idea what to expect (uniform, teachers, curriculum, material etc)?

2. What if you don't remember what you put in the survey or left it uncertain, do I fill out another?

3. Where is the form for remote learning?

4. When will we find out which cohort my child is in?
Many parents are still finalizing their decisions whether or not have have their children attend school remote or hybrid. Once everyone has made a final decision we will be able to put cohorts of students together and let you know which cohort your child is in.
5. It was stated that parents of small children have to remain with kids until the are going in, but there is limited space to park or wait. How are we maintaining social distancing and respecting families time to ensure smooth and timely entry of our children and our safety?
We are currently working out the logistics to establish multiple entry points and to ease the congestion.
6. Since we can not choose entry time or date, how do we accommodate families whose work schedule will not allow them to participate or what options are there to appeal entry date and time?
We will do our best to accommodate all parents once we receive the results from all parent surveys.
7. After considering the staggered arrival and dismissal time it might be a problem for us to drop off our child and pick her up. What form do I fill out if I want my child to learn remotely full time and the due date to submit it?

8. If child can't attend is student lack of attendance going to negatively impact them? How will they still receive instruction or instructional material when absent?
Since their are both hybrid and remote options this year, it is understood that if you can not get your child to school for hybrid instruction they must be logged in for remote instruction. If your child is not physically in school or has not logged on for the day, then they will be marked absent.
9. When do we pick up the Chrome Notebooks?
Chromebooks will be picked up from the school on September, 8th from 10am - 3pm. Please be advised that until our new shipment of chromebooks arrives, we will only distribute chromebooks to students whom expressed a need for one last year and to new students only.
10. Can we choose the staggered schedule? I have a child in another school that the earlier schedule conflicts with. When do we find out the groups our children will be in? We need to plan for accommodations for work. Why does Group C have more in school days? Will remote learning be google classroom or will it be real time in a classroom? My son has health issues (documented), can he just run to the bathroom has he has in the past?
No, however we will do our best to accommodate all parents once we receive all survey results. Parents will find out what group their child is in on Thursday, September 3rd. Students in Group C have 2 days for additional services. Should your child need to go to the bathroom staff will ensure students enter the restroom one at at time and sanitize their hands before and after.
11. I wanted to know what school supplies I need to purchase for second grade? Also, Can I still send my child with their own lunch? Will my child be get a metro card for travel? "
You will find out all of the supplies you will need for the year during the Grade level Parent Orientation Meetings. Children may bring their own lunch to school but they are not permitted to share any portion of their lunch with their classmates.
12. I initially filled out the form and opted for fully remote. This week, we decided it will be okay for my child to attend once per week following the hybrid option. So I filled out the form again electing the hybrid option. Will my child be accepted for hybrid starting in October? Or will my child have to wait until November?
Your child will be accepted for hybrid in October.
13. What’s the plan for our kindergarten kids? Will they be able to attend school? How teachers are going to work with them in case they have to do remote learning.?
Kindergarten will run the same way as all of the grades. There will be times dedicated throughout the week to work with Kindergarten in one on one sessions. Should you want your attend hybrid they may do so. Just like all of the other grades, Kindergarten will be working with a team of 3 teachers.
14. Will meetings be recorded?

15. How many days per week? Will the days rotate ie tue/Thur and then maybe M/W/F or just set days? Who will have in class or will that rotate as well? Will there be transportation available? What would that look like? Will the kids have to bussed with other schools? What is your sick child / staff protocol? Are all students and staffed screened prior to entry ie temperature checks, questionnaires to be filled out?

16. Will the students be tested for Covid-19?
Right now we are waiting for clarification from the state whether staff and students will have to be tested prior to the first entry to the building. Either way, students would not be tested at or by the school.
17. How will the virtual lessons be taught if the teacher is also teaching in the classrooms? For instance, if my child goes to school on Monday, who will be teaching him virtually on Tuesday through Friday if the teacher has other hybrid groups on those days? Will lessons be pre-recorded?
All students will be learning synchronously whether they are online or in the classroom. The classrooms will be equipped with microphones for the teachers and cameras so that students at home and students in the classroom are learning together at the same time. Lessons will be prerecorded as well.
18. What happens if during the day the child or teacher presents symptoms of illness-high temp? What plans have put in place? Most school bathrooms are missing hand wash, how many times will the cleaning staff ensure that hand wash and sanitizers are full in class as well as in the bathroom? How often daily children be encouraged to wash their hands? 5. Will all classes be live and recorded for reviewing purposes?
1. Staff will be trained to identify systems of Covid-19 and student/staff will be taken to the nurse to be further evaluated; parents will be contacted immediately and as necessary, student will be taken to a designated area.

19. For remote learning, are parents expected to participate in kindergarten?
Yes. Students in kindergarten will need help logging in and completing the activities at first. As they get more accustomed to the programs they can work independently.
20. Do you have the means to provide Covid-19 testing on site For symptomatic children or staff?
No.
21. How will remote learning be implemented once hybrid learning starts? For instance, will the lessons be live streamed from the classroom for the students whom are remote learning on their assigned days?"

22. What guidelines are in place regarding the use of restrooms?
Students will be able to go when they need to go to the bathroom; staff will be in the hallway to make sure social distancing is taking place to ensure that only one student is entering the bathroom at a time.
23. If you haven’t return your laptop will you still be able to come in and swap it out for a new one September 8 ?

24. What program will the school use for remote learning google classroom or zoom?
We will be using google classroom for our learning management system in grades 2-8 and SeeSaw for grades K & 1. We will be using Google Meet to conference with our students.
25. I have a computer at home; do I still need to pickup the school computer for online classes?
No as long as your child can has uninterrupted use.
26. How remote learning is going to work how many teacher are going to be remote what is going to be the schedule for remote learning?
The schedule for remote learning and hybrid learning will be the same.
27. When will parents receive the name of their teacher and the supply list?
This year teachers will be working in teams of 3 to support the entire grade. For supply list by grade see the Grade Level Parent orientation Meeting links & recordings below.
28. How are cohorts being chosen? Knowing the additional support that Kindergarteners need for remote learning, what in home Supports and additional face to face instructions has the school considered? What evaluations/assessment tools will school use to gage student’s progress and how often will this be done? 4. Will kindergarteners be required to wear masks all time in the classroom (besides lunch breaks)?
Cohorts will be determined according to student need. Students will receive additional one to one conferencing time with their teachers. Kindergarten will use Seesaw to complete their work. A pre mid and post reading assessment will also be administered to your child to gauge where they are now and to track their progress over time. All students including kindergarteners will be required to wear masks all day.
29. Does the school have a register nurse?
Yes
30. What is going to happen is any one get sick?
If Covid-19 related; we will follow the guidelines based on the CDC and the NYCDOE.
31. What is the plan to introduce the kindergarten children who have never been to the schools or met the teachers into this new process? When can parents expect the daily class schedule so that working parents can plan their days accordingly?
Kindergarten will go through a separate orientation on entering the school building closer to the start of hybrid learning. The schedule will be shared with parents on Thursday once we have received all responses from parents. Please note that the schedules are staggered to ensure safety when entering the school building. Your child will either be arriving to school between 8:30 - 8:50 or 9:10 - 9:30.
32. How will online sessions be conducted? Will teachers hold actual synchronous lessons? Or will all sessions be taught asynchronously?
All students will be learning synchronously whether they are online or in the classroom. The classrooms will be equipped with microphones for the teachers and cameras so that students at home and students in the classroom are learning together at the same time. Lessons will be prerecorded as well.
33. Who will be the remote teachers after October 2nd when the hybrid model starts? Will it be the same teachers as the ones used for September? Will there be live sessions for kids who do remote learning only? Will the curriculum for the remote only students be the same as the ones who do hybrid?
The teachers will be the same as in remote and hybrid. Remote students will receive live instruction. The curriculum will be the same whether remote or hybrid.
34. Will siblings have the same schedule?
Yes. School administration will review all class lists to ensure siblings have the same schedule.
35. Will the uniform policy be the same this year?
Yes. Navy blue pants or skirt and white button down collared or polo shirt.
