Transformed
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
~Romans 12:2
Principal's Corner
The school year is well underway and we had many exciting events in the past month. We kicked-off our new Faith Families program. Faith Families is a new Kindergarten – 8th grade school-wide 'buddy' program with the goal of providing small group biblical based discussions, prayer, and encouragement across grade levels. All students gain support by integrating with students in different grade levels all year long. Teachers observe and advise the monthly Faith Family meetings. Faith Families will also be the Sport’s Day groups in the spring, and any other school groups for various school-wide activities (pep rally seating, etc.). Each Faith Family group contains 11 or 12 students with one teacher per group. The meetings take place once a month during the Middle School elective period, and in place of Kindergarten -5th grade Bible time (8:35-9:05 am). Faith Families each have a designated country that they will pray for, and possibly plan a philanthropy project to support. The ASB students, primarily the Chaplain and Service Project Commissioner, provide the lessons to the Middle School students and teachers before each Faith Family meeting.

A special thank you to Perricone Farms for their juice donation, and Exotic Foods for their veggie donation, we greatly appreciate your generosity... and thank you to Rebecca Walter for coordinating all of our monthly philanthropies!
We also spent September focusing our efforts on feeding the hungry through Isaiah House, an organization providing for the homeless. We collected basic necessities for the house, as well as monetary donations in Chapel.

Tustin Tiller Days
The following morning on October 6th you are invited to walk with us in the Tustin Tiller Days Parade. Our giant RHLS tractor/trailer will be winding the streets of Old Town Tustin. All students are welcome (with a parent) to join the parade and represent RHLS. This year, our float design will be set around our 2018-2019 Transformed theme. The float will be decorated with hundreds of brightly colored butterflies. Both praise bands along with Praise & Movement students will be leading the crowd in movement and song. If you plan to join in the fun and walk along with our parade float, please contact Lori Browne in the school office for details about when and where to meet up on Saturday morning.
Nominate Your Favorite Teacher
This year we want to not only nominate and honor the best teachers, but also the best instructional assistants, custodians, office workers, technicians, and other non-teaching staff members. Last year we had two teachers (Mr. Matt Smith and Mrs. Lisa Tarkoff) in the Top 25 Teacher list in Orange County. Thanks for your consideration of this opportunity to recognize RHLS top teachers and school employees who assist them.
Parent Resources
You and your child are cordially invited by Crean Lutheran High to attend an Organizational Skills Workshop on October 17th from 6:30-7:30 pm in Room 207A at CLHS. This event highlights the topics of organization, time management, goal setting, flexibility, and emotional regulation. Karen Learner, an Educational Therapist from College Blueprint, will lead this workshop. Students will learn a variety of skills to help them be successful in educational environments.

"A beautiful garden is a work of heart"
Grandma Cathy and Mrs. Eich wish to send a special thank you to Mrs. Lori Browne. "Thank you Lori for your support, and going "above and beyond" to help the RHLS Learning Garden. Not only do you accomplish everything we ask of you, but you have been at every garden clean-out, putting in hard labor hauling and digging as well as getting us anything we need (bags, ladders, trash cans, water, and much more). You do not do this for pride hours, or recognition, and it goes well above your job. You do this for the love of our school, our students, their families, and our garden. God sent RHLS such a blessing with you Miss Lori, thank you!"
Box Tops
Operation Box Top has officially begun. Weekly classroom leaders are announced in chapel. Please check box top expiration dates and turn them in to your teacher in a clear baggie with your teacher's name and room number. We have had a great start to the contest, keep up the great clipping!
