Learning Walks
“Learning walks bring school leaders and teachers together to observe and discuss classroom instruction in a strategic and collaborative manner....This results in a set of findings based on evidence – findings that guide the school in developing a vision for instructional practices whereby they identify needs for their own professional development.” -SchoolWorks Associates
Over the next several weeks, administrators will be conducting learning walks as a team and with content specialists to get a snapshot of instruction across our building. We are learning together so we can serve as better coaches, offer relevant professional development, and identify strengths in teaching practices that will help our students and ourselves grow.
Each walk will have a focus and you will receive feedback on what was observed. When we walk in, please keep teaching.
Later in the semester, we will restart our vertical alignment walks so you too can get a glimpse of learning structures around our building.
Watch the video below to see how one school uses learning walks so you have a model of what we will be doing at Hearne.
We can’t wait to see you!

Trees for Houston rescheduled for Friday, March 29th!
Reminders for all staff--
- All staff should be at work on time every day.
- Welcome students at your doorways at 7:40 AM daily.
- Plan ahead to ensure you arrive to campus before your scheduled duty begins.
- The expectation is for all staff to use it daily to sign in and sign out.
- If the Raptor system is down, we will do a manual sign in sheet where you will record your time in and out.
- You cannot Raptor in and be at your assigned duty at the same time. Campus safety is everyone's responsibility. It takes the effort from all players for our team to succeed.
- Refrain from touching students, unless they are a danger to self or others. Call an administrator if you need support.
Student Data Folders and Bulletin Boards
All crates and hanging folders have been delivered at this time. If you have not received your items, please let your team leader know so we can get the items to you ASAP.
We saw great growth with student data folder checks this week! WOW!
Students have a target to reach their goals!
Effective schools use data and other evidence to track progress towards intended outcomes consistently.
Goal-setting is a lifelong skill.
All staff: Stop by the yellow ONE WORD banner and add your word for 2019! Don't forget to write an explanation so we can support each other in living our word.
Mr. Chambers coming in February!
Our wonderful counselors will be presenting right after.

Frontline Upgrades coming soon!
The new Frontline platform will go live March 1, 2019 at 10:00. Please share with your staff members so that they are not alarmed by the email. In light of the spamming and phishing concerns – we definitely understand why they might question the correspondence.
I have attached the flyer shared with you last week should you wish to pass it on to your staff members. Staff members will receive another correspondence once the system is live. Staff members will login to the system. They will be prompted to change their user name and password. And that is the extent of the action they will need to take. But please let them know this is a legitimate change.
Change of Transportation
The front office will place the change in your mailbox and make contact with the teacher before the end of the day (face to face or via email).
It takes a team effort to get every student home safely each day.

Our TEA School Report Card has been released!
The school report card (SRC) combines accountability ratings, data from the Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), and financial information to give a broad view of campus performance. Available for each campus in Texas, the SRC is intended specifically to inform parents and guardians about a school’s individual characteristics and its academic performance.
Your team leaders will share how our local accountability system combines with our state accountability ratings to show our community and parents the power of our strides to close the achievement gap.
