RJ Richey Weekly Update
RJ Family News Week of October 4th-8th
Message from the Principal
Dear Bulldog Families,
Fall is here and we are well underway into our second six-weeks of school. During this time, there comes a delightful shift in energy throughout the campus. The early days and first six-weeks of school are filled with the excitement of meeting new friends and reconnecting with the old, remembering the routines from the past and learning the subtle shifts that happen in every classroom every year. With the change in the weather comes a change in the climate in the school. Kids are into their routines and teachers have gotten to know each child's unique learning habits. The initial buzz of excitement is settling into a productive flow that will take us through most of the rest of the year.
In the past few months, I have been impressed with the level of expertise our teachers have with the curriculum. They know exactly what the children need to know to be successful, and are really creative in how they help them learn! It's also clear that they care deeply for the children. We believe that the culture in the classroom , and the way we go about forming it, helps the children learn at the highest possible levels. And those rich classroom cultures flow right out into the hallway and cover our entire school. I wanted to encourage you to talk with your child about Spirit, Pride, and Honor in BCISD and what it looks like, sounds like, and how we all can model those core character traits in our behavior, in our school work, and in our relationships with our peers and teachers at school.
Parent & teacher conferences will be coming throughout the month of October and November, and if you haven't found time to connect with your child's teacher, I would encourage you to reach out, and plan to come our way for RJ Richey's Open House on Tuesday, October 12th. We can't wait for you to see some of your child's work and the joyful learning environments here at RJ. It really is something special.
In the next few months there are a number of wonderful opportunities to come out and experience the richness of our loving school, and we hope to see you at our Parent Night and Open House on Tuesday, October 12th where you can also shop til you drop at our Book Fair, enjoy popcorn from our PTO, hear more from your child's teacher about class expectations, tour our classrooms and see student work, and learn about how RJ is working to "Level Up" this year with our campus-improvement work.
In Bulldog Spirit, Pride, and Honor,
Jessica McMullen, RJR Elementary Principal
