Donovan Family Digest

April 6, 2021

Good morning LDS Families,

We hope you had a wonderful Spring Break! We look forward to seeing our cubs back in person this Thursday, April 8th.

If you traveled during break and have not yet contacted the school, please reach out to Mrs. Armstrong prior to Thursday. In addition, if you have been deemed a close contact or tested positive for Covid, please let Mrs. Armstrong know right away. We appreciate your assistance in keeping our students and staff healthy.

Monday begins fourth marking period! It is almost surreal to think we are entering the final weeks of the school year. We are so excited to be welcoming back many more of our Tiger Cubs this Thursday, April 8th. Each week we have had more and more Tiger Cubs returning and it brings us such joy to see. If you would like to discuss your child's return, do not hesitate to reach out. Remember, you do NOT have to wait by marking period. Students can return at any time once you have reached out to me and we have made arrangements.

With spring comes outdoor Physical Education time and outdoor snacks. Please dress your child for these daily outdoor excursions! As long as the weather is dry and above 33....we will be outside!

Snacks: Please remember to send your child with a small healthy snack daily. Since we are still not permitted to allow drop offs during the school day, we often find many students without a snack. As you can imagine, we are going through a LOT of water bottles and pretzels daily! If you are interested in donating a case of water bottles and mini bags of pretzels, we would absolutely appreciate it! It is distributed to students daily. Thank you in advance. (you can reach out to directly to Mrs. Armstrong if you would like to donate)

8:25-12:25 + afternoon instruction

Students who have indicated they are remaining virtual will log on as usual.

It is extremely important to report if there is any change in your child's school attendance. While it is important to tell the teacher, we ask to notify the front office as well to avoid multiple phone calls home.

* Your child is supposed to be in school but will now be working virtually from home.

* Your child will not be on Zoom or in person.

Please be sure to leave the reasons for either

Please remember to complete the Covid Screening form each day that your child is scheduled to attend school in person.

Please remember to fill out your child's daily health form. Also if you have been traveling, or plan to travel, please email the nurse at to make sure you are complying with the 10-day travel advisory quarantine.

April 8- 7PM Ladies Night "In"

April 12th- Each day students will log on for afternoon instruction at 1:50. Your child(ren)'s teacher(s) will offer a detailed schedule personal to their classroom. However, every child will be logging on daily at the 1:50 time block.

As Mr. Dickstein's communication stated, we will be increasing the instructional time for teacher/student instruction each day by 25 minutes. This allows for teachers to run even more small groups throughout the week.

Beginning on April 12th, students will log on for afternoon instruction at 1:50 every day.

Your child(ren)'s teacher(s) will offer a detailed schedule personal to their classroom. However, every child will be logging on daily at the 1:50 time block to start off as a whole class. Should you have any questions, please reach out to the classroom teacher pertaining to the schedule.

When you walk into Laura Donovan School, the first thing you notice is the striking artwork tile mural created by our students and families from 2 years ago when we celebrated our 50th anniversary. It is stunning and representative of our families from now and from the past.

Keep an eye out soon as we will be sending home information on another legacy adventure that all of our families can participate in....DONOVAN STRONG LEGACY WALL. We will forever remember 2020-2021 for a variety of reasons. However, the one thing we have always said is that our school community is like no other. We are truly Donovan Strong, and a family that sticks together throughout the thick and thin of it all. Students will be receiving a packet with information on how to bring their artwork to life and be part of the legacy wall. Mrs. Puntolillo will be sharing ideas and techniques during the month of April and then the package will arrive home for everyone who would like to participate. We are so excited to splash our school with even more student centered artwork that will live on for many years to come. Thank you in advance for being part of this special project.

A very Happy Birthday to all of our Tiger Cubs! We hope your special day is as amazing as YOU!
