SENIORS: Graduation Cap and Gown Orders
You will need to provide your height and weight when ordering. Ms. Barr (Room 4-315) is able to assist with your height and weight measurements if needed. If you plan to use a cap and gown from a sibling, they will need to bring it by Ms. Barr's room to ensure it isn't too big or small. You would then be able to order just the tassel.
If you have questions, please see Ms. Tara Barr or contact the LWTHS front office.
Homework Tips
- Make sure your child has a quiet, well-lit place to do homework. Avoid having your child do homework with the television on or in places with other distractions, such as people coming and going.
- Make sure the materials your child needs, such as paper, pencils and a dictionary, are available. Ask your child if special materials will be needed for some projects and get them in advance.
- Help your child with time management. Establish a set time each day for doing homework. Don't let your child leave homework until just before bedtime. Think about using a weekend morning or afternoon for working on big projects, especially if the project involves getting together with classmates.
- Be positive about homework. Tell your child how important school is. The attitude you express about homework will be the attitude your child acquires.
- When your child does homework, you do homework. Show your child that the skills they are learning are related to things you do as an adult. If your child is reading, you read too. If your child is doing math, balance your checkbook.
- When your child asks for help, provide guidance, not answers. Giving answers means your child will not learn the material. Too much help teaches your child that when the going gets rough, someone will do the work for him or her.
11th grade student, Rosalinda Poppablo, in our Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing program has found something she loves doing. She enrolled in this technical program because she wanted to learn how to paint, sand and repair automobiles. Rosalinda said, “it’s fascinating to see how you can take a totally broken vehicle and turn it into a “like new” automobile.
In this program, Rosalinda said that she has learned that having a good work ethic and being determined to complete a task efficiently is critical. According to Rosalinda, organization is a must in the industry. Rosalinda said, “you must be organized so that everything can go smoothly when you are repairing and reconstructing a vehicle.” When Rosalinda looks into her future, she sees herself working as a Collision Repair and Refinishing Technician while attending college. When reflecting on the most exciting project so far in the program, Rosalinda explained how she had a chance to paint another student’s Volvo and “that was awesome.”
