Big picture

***No School: March 16-April 7***

We hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. As we come out of our "official" spring break, our next steps are to begin planning on future learning for our students. The governor has extended school closures through April 7th. The learning packets that were created last week should provide our students with enough activities through Friday, April 3rd. Next week we will continue to plan out more learning opportunities for our students and then communicate that out by the end of next week.

MES Office Hours

We will have an office staff member available during the week from 8-4. Yet, we do want to limit any direct contact from visitors. Please call ahead if you need to come in for anything.

Remote Learning

During our time away from school, remote learning resources are now available on our website. These activities are designed for review and practice for our students. Although activities will not be graded, we do feel it is important for students to continue to do these activities each day we are out.

There are enough activities for each day through April 3rd.

Food Bank

Dr. Lind contacted the Northern Illinois Food Bank for grocery delivery. This week Monday, 8 staff members worked to unload the pallets of food, organize, and pack two bags of groceries for any families needed them.

These groceries were offered to all families that took advantage of the breakfast and lunch grab and go meals being offered this week.

Read to Succeed

The Six Flags Read to Succeed program is still in full swing! Any reading your MES student does at home will count towards earning a FREE ticket to Great America this summer. Students who participate must read a minimum of 6 hours, and are able to earn bonus rewards and coupons to use at the park if they read more than 6 hours. Simply go to and set up your child's account by entering his/her teacher's unique code. All minutes/hours will need to be entered by April 17th. Six Flags will then email the free ticket directly to parents in May. If you have any questions, please contact your child's homeroom teacher or Renee Marasco at

Breakout Rooms

We had a few families take on the Breakout Room Challenges last week. Each week I'll add a few to our website. Feel free to visit and take on the challenges!
