The Writing Initiative, By Mr. Meaders

Scott Meaders, a former Frontier Charter parent and a teacher of 22 years is offering a FREE 20-day Writing Course to be held at Ravenwood Elementary during September. Class time will be 4:30-5:30 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. No class on Tuesdays. This is for grades 6-8. By the end, your student will understand how to write an expository essay.

Scott will be videotaping this for training purposes and used commercially with no financial benefits to the students or parents that agree to the terms and conditions.

Frontier is offering a field trip at the Eagle River Nature Center on Sept. 23, 12:30-2:30 for grades k-6. We will be learning about BEAR AND MOOSE SAFETY. Please sign up and come dressed for the current weather. Activities will be both outside and inside. Masks are required for the inside activities. Click the title for more information.
Frontier is offering bowling on Sept. 24th at Jewel Lake Bowling Center. This event is for students in grades 9-12, from 1:00-3:00 pm. Click the title above to sign up.

Battle of the Books 2021/22

Every year, the State Librarians Association selects 12 terrific books for each grade level area. After reading the selections, teams will practice trivia questions about the books in preparation for the January District Battle against other schools.

Frontier will be sponsoring teams for grades K-2nd, 3rd-4th and 5th-6th grade students this year. Hope you'll join us! Email Liz Hunt ( for more information. Practices will start in September!

i-Ready Assessment Opportunity

Fall i-Ready assessments for grades K-10 will be administered in either the Anchorage or Eagle River office. Parents are asked to stay with their students. The dates are September 8 - September 17. Please refer to your email from Jerry Finkler that will explain in more detail. Sign-ups and questions should be addressed to your advisor.
