A note from your Principal
Dear HCS Families,
Thank you for your support as we continue into the winter months this school year. Our students and staff continue to shine each day as evident in their conversations, written work and daily interactions. I must give a HUGE thank you to our school librarian, Janelle Deal, and all of our parent and community volunteers for their hard work and dedication in putting together our Book Fair. Students and their families had a wonderful time shopping this year! Thank you to the many families who made purchases to support our program.
As we head into the holiday season, it is necessary to outline a process for what it will look like should we find ourselves having to pivot, temporarily, to remote instruction. Please note that I do not have any reason to believe this will be the case, but I do want to plant the seed in the event that it does occur.
If HCS has to adjust to remote instruction, we will communicate with the community as soon as possible. I anticipate that there may be a need to have one day to transition, when families will have staggered access to the building to gather materials. At the UPK-5 level, all teachers are utilizing Google Classroom, which should allow for a swift transition. Teachers are having students practice logging onto their devices, so that in the event of a closure students are familiar with what to do from home. Students can expect assignments from special area teachers as well.
Our tech department is working on renewing our hotspots so that we can offer these to families who have connectivity issues. Again, this is an unlikely event, but we certainly want to be prepared!
I hope you enjoy a wonderful holiday season spending time with family and friends. Be safe and be well!
Thank you Honeoye Families,
Natalie Pfluke

Keeping up with reading at home-
November may have been Family Literacy Month, but sharing great reading and writing at home is ongoing! We are asking families to send in pictures of you engaging with your children in reading or writing together. We are also asking for book reviews and book recommendations to add to our January newsletter- and storytelling is literacy too! December is a great time to tell detailed family holiday stories, and share old and new traditions with your children.
For more information, please contact our Literacy Coach, Mrs. Farrell, at alfarrell@honeoye.org
