Attendance is so important!
T.H.I.N.K. (THINKING HARD INSPIRES NEW KNOWLEDGE) SYSTEM
The purpose of this system is to prevent behavior problems from occurring by identifying reasons for the inappropriate behavior. The goal of this plan is to involve teachers, counselors, support staff, principals, and parents in helping students’ exhibit appropriate behavior in order for them to achieve their academic potential.
Minor violations are offenses that will result in a THINK form. They are disruptive to the learning process and are covered in student expectations and individual classroom rules. Each THINK form a student receives in a 9 week period will result in an increase in THINK “Level” as noted below. Parents will receive an e-mail or phone call each time a THINK form is given to a student.
THINK 1: (1) day of Lunch Detention/No recess
THINK 2: (2) days of Lunch Detention/No recess. Conference with an Assistant Principal
* Ineligible for 9 week reward (2nd
semester)
THINK 3: (1) day of ISS
* Ineligible for 9 week
reward (1st semester)
THINK 4: (2) days of ISS
THINK 5: (3) days of ISS
THINK 6: (4) days of ISS
**If a student is assigned to ISS twice in one nine week period for separate incidents, they will be ineligible to attend Victory Assembly
Students who receive their third THINK form and higher will be disciplined by the principal or assistant principal. When in ISS, students may bring a lunch or purchase a lunch from our cafeteria. Items considered by the Department of Agriculture to be of “minimal nutritional value” will not be allowed (ex: soda, cookies, ice cream, candy, etc).
At the conclusion of each 9-week grading period a student’s THINK level returns to zero. This means all are reinstated for the subsequent 9-week grading period.
*Parent/guardian contact should be made
at all levels.
**Parent conference is required with principal and assistant principal to discuss possible (DAEP) District Alternative Education Placement.
