Bibb Cell Phone Policy
Bibb Schools Updates Student Cell Phone Policy for 2022-23
Did you know Bibb Schools has a new student cell phone policy this school year to help prevent distractions during learning time?
New Superintendent Dr. Dan A. Sims explained the new policy to students recently by sharing how it is similar to laws that prevent distracted driving. Similar to how we follow state laws that prevent distracted driving by texting while driving, Bibb Schools wants to limit distractions during the instructional day. The Bibb County School District will continue to provide a district-issued electronic device to each student for instructional purposes during the school day.
Read Policy JCDAF, approved by the Bibb County Board of Education this summer, here: https://bit.ly/3BsafGT.
Under this policy, personally owned electronic devices are not permitted for use during the school day unless authorized by the superintendent or designee. A student is allowed to have a personally owned electronic device at school but it must be out of sight and turned off during the school day. Students are permitted to use their personally owned electronic device after completion of the school day.
View the Code of Conduct for guidance on violations to the new cell phone policy. The first offense will result in the cell phone being turned into administration, and parents will be required to schedule a meeting with a school administrator to retrieve the phone.
