The topic of head lice can make us all feel a little...itchy. Here are some helpful facts about head lice and nits (lice eggs):
Head lice move by crawling and cannot jump or fly.
Head lice are mostly spread by direct head-to-head contact—for example, during play at home, sleepovers, sports activities, or camp.
Lice are not frequently passed in the school setting.
Head lice do not spread diseases.
The Boise School District does not require students to leave school if they have lice. Parents or guardians may choose to pick up a student to start treatment immediately, but students do not have to stay home because of lice or nits.
Please feel free to contact Nurse Jane if you have questions or concerns about treating head lice for your student.
