Do the Right thing!

Trouble, Trouble, and Consequences?

Software Piracy, Identity theft, and Plagiarism; These things are illegal! What happens to people when they get caught you ask? Bad things!

  1. Restitution
  2. Probation
  3. Fining
  4. Arrests
  5. Prison sentences

What do those things mean?

Restitution happens when an identity is stolen or there has been some kind of fiscal damage to the victim. The attacker is forced to pay back all that was stolen. Probation is done if, for example you illegally downloaded a couple songs and shared them with your friends, your devices would be suspended of usage of certain things by your carrier. Fines have been known to range from anywhere between $100 to $250,000 for things like software piracy. Arrests occur in the situation where you have disobeyed all of the above or if you have done something very highly wrong, like hack into the government software to steal FBI agent identities. Prison sentences also happen for the same things arrests do.

Intellectual Property

The intellectual property is anything that is protected in law by things like patents, copyright and trademarks, which enable people to earn recognition or financial benefit from what they invent or create. Authors, movie directors, artists, vocalists, songwriters, etc. all copyright their work and claim it as their individual intellectual property.
