Save our Water!

Facts and helpful tips on water by Marie Bong.

The Shocking Numbers

Water is an essential part of life. Whether you be a plant, animal, human, or tiny organism, water is a necessity in order for you to survive. However, do we know how much water you actually use per day? After a bit of research, our head writer, Marie Bong, discovered that people spend a staggering 80-100 gallons every day by ourselves! By using our tips and know-hows of water conservation, you can reduce that by at least 5 gallons or more.

Water Usage

Out of all 50 states, the state we live in, California uses the most water per day. I believe this has to do with our big population. By this I mean that since people use an average of 80-100 gallons of water per day, we might be the obvious state that uses the most water. In fact, two everyday things we all do like using the toilet and washing clothes are 26.7% and 21.7% of all everyday water use.

Water Distribution

Although there are millions of gallons of water out there available to us, it's actually only a tiny 1% of all global water. The majority (97%) is in our oceans, and the remaining 2% are in glaciers and snow-caps. Even so, just the 1% we can use is a gigantic amount, and most of it comes from rivers, streams, and lakes which were initially formed by rain and snow.
